Loreth Anne White first landed on my radar last year when I read The Unquiet Bones, which I absolutely loved.
When I discovered she had a new book coming out, I immediately pre-ordered a copy.
The Swimmer definitely lived up to my expectations and then some. It was cleverly written, twisted and completely unpredictable.
I am obsessed with killer twists, and this story was filled with them! It felt like there was one jaw-dropping twist after another, and I was seriously living for it. For that reason, this book gave me a bit of a Freida McFadden vibe.
I didn’t know who to trust or believe in this story. Everyone seemed to have something to hide. With that being said, I surprised myself by developing an affection for Chloe Cooper. There’s no denying she was a low-key creeper. But, without giving too much away, she had good reason to be the way she was and I felt bad for her.

WOW! This book blew my mind! I have wanted to read a book by this author for a while, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. This book was so excellently written! Fast paced right out of the gate, this book pulled me in, and did not slow down. The action and drama was high the entire wild ride. The plot develops through well crafted dual timelines and well narrated multiple POVs. There were so many lies, secrets, and dirty deeds encapsulated in this book. Twist after twist caused me to gasp out loud many times during this book. I love books that include mixed media, so I was excited that this book included true crime podcasts episodes. I thought it was genius that clues and twists were revealed through the podcast episodes. The chapters are short, the writing is superb, and the plot is brilliant! I will definitely be reading more by this author!

🥀The Swimmer by Loreth Anne White 🥀
I never expected to find such a brilliant story!
Loreth Anne White is an author I’m familiar with and her work is of great value to me. This being her latest novel was something I was expecting. But I must admit she took it to the next level.
This is a story written in layers, I was at thirty percent of the novel and I felt wise, oh I thought I had it all figured out. I made such a fool of myself this time!
She got me invested from the first chapter and I found the story so profound and complex with a character that had so many demons in her head and such a tough relationship with her mother. So tough, so brutal. I felt sorry for her for most part of the book.
And I want to make a point here, this is not only a thriller, this is the story of how human beings behave when in danger, when betrayed, when seeking for revenge. When they need recognition. It’s story that will trap you and have you turning pages and even re reading.
I appreciate the extensive research the author must have conducted to create such terrifying experiences, all the small and tiny details and of course, how the story was told.
