This was a fun read. I enjoyed the character development and see more stories with these characters in the future. The Plot was good and I kept asking myself, "when?!" Thank you for an entertaining time.

I found this because I was specifically looking for a lesbian vampire romance book and this one had the least smutty looking cover. It was super fun and I had a good time but I also skipped over the sex scenes, so if that’s what you’re going into it for I can’t report back sorry.

4 stars. This was a lot of fun. Robin is a vampire and she wants to go on a diet and not drink human blood anymore so she joins AA. There she meets Alana who has been sober for eighteen months and begins to sponsor Robin. She also is more than she seems. This was such a fast paced and very entertaining read. It gave me the vibes of older urban fantasy romances from the early 2000s and I mean that in the best way possible.
I’m a big fan of Jae. She’s one of my favorite author’s and I think she and Grey did really well on this. I’m not familiar (I don’t think) with Grey’s writing style but it blended seamlessly with Jae’s. The humor was great and it was paced well. There was definitely some depth here as well as we watch Robin really struggle against her desire to drink blood. She also is having some trouble with her coven because of her decision. Alana is there to help her every step of the way which I loved. Those two were great for each other and I loved how they worked through their issues so there is no third act breakup.
Overall, this was awesome and I can definitely see myself re-reading it because it has such a cozy vibe to it and it seriously put me in a good mood.

I've never struggled so hard to finish a Gurgh book. Pressure and time constraints from school are partially to blame, but even so I just didn't want to read this. The stakes were low (practically nonexistent for a vampire story), the characters bland when they weren't being hateful, and the details inconsistent and undeveloped.
One reason I didn't want to continue was the premise. I was pulled in by the idea of a vampire joining AA to quit drinking blood, and if this were a comedic short story, I could still see some potential. But the actual execution made me feel dirty for thinking it would be amusing. By the end, I will admit that AA is treated with a little seriousness and respect, but the first half of the book is full of contempt for the process. And if we're to treat Robin's dilemma seriously (big "if" here, when her reasoning is so flimsy), AA isn't the right mode for her to find help when it's not an addiction but a biological imperative.
Robin and Alanna are are either unlikable or boring for the majority of the book, which somehow doesn't work when it's a romance. Bring in Alanna as Robin's sponsor and we get a power imbalance that is constantly noted for its inappropriateness. I don't know about others, but excuses being made ad nauseum doesn't really get me in the mood.
