First print book of the year!
Before I even start on this review, I'm making it known I skipped over Blockade Billy in this collection. I have it as it's own book and so it had to be skipped somewhere, so I chose here instead of skipping it's hardcover.
I always like SK's collected stories. Most just see him as The King of Horror, but the reality is, he's actually written very little actual horror, and writes almost every genre there is (except romance). This collection isn't horror, I'm sure there's others that would define it as such, but there's only one or two, three at most, stories in here that could actually be classified as horror. What this collection is, is genreless really. While there's no one genre to define it, it is a collection on mortality.
I didn't find a single story in here that I didn't enjoy either, which is rare; there's usually at least one I dislike to the point that I wonder why it was written at all. But not with this one.
Kudos, Mr. King, while I'm sure my opinion means nothing to you, I do believe this is my favorite of your collections.
I give this book 5 of 5 Paws.

3.5. Some good stories, but not as strong as some of his former anthologies.
“She had also grown up knowing you ate no shit—not about your hosses, your size, your line of work, or your sexual preferences. Once you started eating shit, it had a way of becoming your regular diet.”
Solid book of short stories with preface for each by King. I try to keep a book of short stories around at all times to read when I can't sit down to read for the long haul. My favorites were Mile 81, Bad Little Kid, and Herman Wouk Is Still Alive. Nothing is probably ever going to live up to Dolan's Cadillac or The Man In the Black Suit, but they did the trick...

I loved that Stephen King introducedpst of the stories and explained why he wrote them. I loved this collection I only had one dislike.
Although I am a huge Stephen King fan, I am not a big short story fan. The stories were OK, but nothing amazing.
This is my first foray into Stephen King. I love short stories and many of these were great. I will admit Stephen King's exploration of the darker themes of human nature and morbid subject matter did begin to wear on me after a while, but they are engaging and interesting.
Before each short story is a short preface by King on what spurred him to write each story. In a way, he explains his writing process and what it means for him to be a writer. I found these insightful even if I did not agree with all of his views.
I will have to try a full length novel in the future.
I just realized I finished this on Christmas. Merry Christmas! Look out for the knife..

Stephen King's writing never fails to impress.
I enjoyed some stories more than others, but that's always the case with short story collections. A solid 4/5.
Wouldn't reread, but I do recommend.

Took me a while to read them all but I think this was a great anthology. Ur is probably my favorite but really there are so many great stories in this.
No soy objetiva con Stephen King. Hace unos 30 años que soy una de sus Lectores Constantes y eso me crea un cierto sesgo a su favor.
PERO. Qué grandísimo es el King de los últimos años. Vaya colección de cuentos. Lo he devorado, he pasado miedo, me he reído, me he llenado de pena...muy recomendable. Incluso sus desiguales experimentos con la poesía.
