I don't usually read short stories. When it comes to reading I prefer longer books, where I can immerge myself in, get attached to the world and characters. But those stories are really good. It's not specifically horror, but the way King uses dark humor and grotesque is immaculate. You get so hooked up, you don't even realize how far in you are.

You also never know what to expect. Every time you think that you figured it out, King proves you wrong by doing a whole 180°. It's funny how with each story you think that you are wiser, that the next one is going to be a peace of cake. At the end you are always surprised. You never know for sure what he has cooked up this time.
They might be quite unassuming at first, though. You have to get further in, to experience the real fuckery they bring. They start normal, some would say even boring, but the moment it gets to the point, you'll be amazed till the end.

Lastly the entries. I absolutely loved them. It's so fun to read the authors way of seeing things. The struggles he goes through and how the stories came to be. Really helps you to connect and see everything from a little bit of a different point of view.

I thought more than half the stories where pretty average some even below average, but the ones that were my favourites were really friggin good, that's why I'm giving this four stars.

My favourite stories were:
Mile 81.
Premium Harmony.
Batman and Robin Have an Altercation.
Afterlife.
Under the Weather.
That Bus Is Another World.
Obits.

2/10 co to za gówno jest. Jedyną zaskakującą rzeczą w tej książce jest to, że Kingowi pozwolili wydać taki ściek. Nie wiedziałam, że Stefan Król pisze opowiadania i chyba lepiej mi było z tym faktem. Tylko pierwsze dwa są "przyjemnie głupie" (to znaczy tak okropne, że zaczynamy się śmiać), potem są już tylko te źle napisane. Największym strzałem w kolano była decyzja, żeby opowiedzieć skąd wziął się pomysł na dane opowiadanie PRZED OPOWIADANIEM. Czytelnik już wtedy wie co się stanie, bo opowiadania mają średnio 30 stron, więc tam nie ma co streszczać, bo grozi to spojlerami. No Stefan się tym nie przejmuje i pisze DOKŁADNIE co takiego strasznego będzie w kolejnym, więc wychodzi na to, że nie ma po co czytać.

TLDR: Opowiadania są podłe, a Stefan Król wszystkie spojleruje, nie warto po to sięgać

A glorious collection of short stories demonstrating once again the master storyteller that Stephen King is. Characters that feel real, a vast range of styles and tone, but all with the distinctive hook that Stephen King never fails to deliver. Brilliant.

Jag lyssnade igenom massa intervjuer med Stephen King på Youtube och till min förvåning så läste han upp den här novellen under en av dom. Tjoho tänkte jag, nu kan jag lägga in den på Goodreads haha!
