⭐️3.5 - I loved the art style and the plot. Honestly, I wish it was longer because the story felt rushed at parts. I would love more character development over time. Overall, really fun read and definitely recommend it.

I have not read the novel form of this book yet, but this graphic novel makes me want to grab it immediately. This is the story of Juliet coming out to her family and learning how to be herself. It takes a few tries and bit of heartbreak, but she finally figures out how to just breathe. #JulietTakesaBreath #NetGalley

"How do you tell the people who breathed you into existence that you're the opposite of everything they want you to be?"

I'm not sure if I would classify this book as young adult lit so much as new adult lit. It's quite mature in terms of language and sexual content. There is no way I would put this book in my middle school classroom, especially when the graphic novel seemed more mature than the novel at times. Oof. I thought the graphic novel stayed pretty true to the novel and it was fun to see Portland brought to life through [a:Celia Moscote|20175200|Celia Moscote|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s illustrations.

This review was all over the place, but honestly, so is this book and I just can't bring myself to recommend it.

This was so lovely. I can’t help but love any queer coming of age, and Juliet was just so fun and easy to love. You get to see her grow and learn (even the hard lessons) and become more herself. And now I really want to go ride bikes with dykes in the Oregon wilderness real bad.

The art is gorgeous and the simple, warm color palates worked so well with the story.

Fuck Harlowe Brisbane.

The original was incredible and this graphic novel is stunning! The artwork is beautiful and the story is so powerful. I loved being able to see this story in this format, it was very rich and multidimensional.
