Did we read the same book? Cause what the actual fuck did I just read? I’ve both read and written better fan fiction than this. HELL, I ENJOYED SIGGY SHADE’S WATER MAN SMUT BETTER. 💔

Here’s some key points I have regarding my review:

1) the pedophillia. You’re telling me that a 30 yo SENATOR is interested in a 19 yo girl? This calls for a scandal! 🥰
Listen, I love me a good age gap romance, but this was not it. It would be somewhat less concerning if he DIDN’T FUCKING POINT OUT THE FACT THAT SHE WAS STILL A TEENAGER (key word) EVERY FUCKING SECOND.
The word ‘teen’ (used context-nineTEEN/TEENager) in this book was used more than 50 times! Yea.
It was all very…disturbing to say the least. As a teen myself, I felt personally attacked.
Wolfe, and everyone else in the book as a matter of fact,  treated her like a child. Except when it came to marriage and sex, that’s when she was suddenly old enough to indulge in the said…activities, I suppose. which leads me to…

2) the virgin plot
CAN WE STOP USING THAT?? I PHYSICALLY CRINGED WHEN THEY KEPT POINTING IT OUT.
The word ‘virgin’ was used 30 times. I-.
And the whole staining-the-sheets-with-blood-on-the-wedding-night-and-all-of-the-people-cheering-snickering-watching-and-waiting-to-see-the-proof-of-our-consummated-marriage plot that is used too much in romance books, NEEDS TO STOP. I’M BEGGING YOU.

3) the rape
Do I need to say more? That was rape. He took her virginity by force. Idk how yall like him

4) the nonexistent romance
Hello? I think they would make a fine addition to the list of book couples most likely to divorce within like a year of marriage. I felt zero romance.

5) pregnancy
the moment bro was like ‘Dw, I’m gonna pull out.’ was the moment when I realised why he went for a 19 yo. HE WAS A DUMB FUCKING UNEDUCATED 16 yo AT HEART. 🥰🥰 If a man EVER refuses a condom and defends his refusal with the pull out method? RUN. And this girl is no better. SHE DIDN’T EVEN LET HIM PULL OUT. NO FUCKING SURPRISE YOU GOT KNOCKED UP. SOMEONE SIGN EM UP FOR SEX ED ASAP. THEY ARE TOO OLD (at least he is) TO BE ACTING THAT CHILDISH AND RECKLESS.

6) His name is Wolfe

7) Senator
If this was my future president, I would leave the country.

4.5 for sure but I just don’t know how to describe my experience reading this

loved this so book, i was in my feels

ok so this book wasn’t completely awful, there were some cute and enjoyable moments between the two protagonists at times but thats it. The MMC was unlikeable for most of the book and i have a feeling his backstory is poorly written, along with the second half of this book, which seemed excessively rushed. The FMC lacked real purpose and was such an inconsistent character that i was quite annoyed with her. She falls under the spectrum of female characters that the author wants to write as strong and independent (as the character said herself) but she comes off as the exact opposite.
Lastly, i usually don’t mind age gaps books, but the fact that she was constantly referred to as a child or teenager (she’s 19) was quite hateful, also considering that the MMC for most of the book looks at her as an object to fck.
