If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know my love for Micalea runs deep and THIS series was the series that made me fall head over heels for her. Her talent just amazes me every single time I pick up one of her books. I literally don’t have many left so I space them out because the day I don’t have any left will be the saddest day.

I have been waiting for Daire’s book since I finished Jude’s book…because let’s just say that his meltdown was one of epic proportions. And let me tell you, he was worth the wait. He was just…everything I expect from Micalea. Her book boyfriends are just so elite.

If you are looking for a new book boyfriend, who finds out he’s a dad and does everything in his power to be THAT dad, then this book is for you. The tension between Daire and Rosie was top tier and I just love them so much!

Happiest release days, my friend. As always, I’m totally head over heels and just adore you and the worlds you write.

Been waiting for Daire's book for so long and Micalea didn't disappoint.

When Daire finds out his a dad, he will do anything and everything possible to be part of his son's life, that includes marrying his enemy, but what starts off as fake turns real all too quickly.

Rosie, anger is all she has towards Daire, but when he needs her help she finds herself unable to say "NO", and soon they find themselves in a place where fake isn't so fake.

...this book, the emotions.

....you really felt Daire struggle, and his pain not having his friends help him navigate what was going on his life. He made some stupid decisions but in the end he really made up for everything.

Rosie, she found her self on the recieving end of Daire's actions and I truly hurt for her at those times. She definitely felt unwanted but Daire finally gets his act together and does his best to be there for her and Bertie, she really stood by her friend.

....falling in love was not part of the plan but these two fell anyway and it was amazing, also realising they lost years of friendship due to miscommunication was truly sad.

.....add in adjusting to parenthood, it sure wasn't easy for these two, but they did it and the love they had for "Sammy/Junior" was just beautiful ❤️

My favorite world from Micalea Smeltzer. The coming of age drama, the intensity of first love, all the angst. The Boys series captures all of that college joie de vivre- big feelings, big moments, big mistakes, and big decisions. And Rules Breakers Fall Hardest perhaps best espouse the themes that makes this series so addictive. A character coming to terms with his transgressions, trying to grow up and do right...ex friends reconnecting in the most unlikely of ways confronting past feelings and mistakes. It's a story that easily weaves the excitement of first love, the struggles of self-discovery and self-reconciliation, and the bonds of friendship....with new adults just trying to do the hardest thing of all. Grow up.

Fans of the series will know that Daire and Rosie's animosity and banter always stole the show. We've wondered just what went awry between these two- childhood friends whose relationship was mysteriously destroyed. And now they are thrust together in not only a fake relationship but a marriage of convenience? ! I mean we knew this would be delicious.

One of the things I love most about this series is how immersively MS draws us into the lives of her characters...and their psyche. The highs and lows, the best and worst- and we certainly see that with Daire. While I don't love the reckless choices that led Daire to his predicaments, I do appreciate that MS doesn't shy away from letting her characters till fall for the trappings of youth. Some may not be able to fall for Daire as a hero because of it, but I love how imperfect he is...and most of all, I love that he's trying to proverbially man up. And not only when it comes to his custody situation but also when it comes to repairing things with him and Rosie.

Both Daire and Rosie have some great growth in this story, though I do think they move on pretty quickly from the catalyst that ended them into a "more" situation. Yet again- that youth and emotional maturity at play. Once they hash it out it is so easy for them to resettle into their easy friendship. They are endearing together, and the banter is great.

Overall, I enjoyed finally seeing Daire and Rosie get their HEA, and I love checking in with the crew. Micalea captures the essence of college found family type friendships, first love, and the pains of maturity with deft charm and authenticity. I love the balance of heavier emotional themes with the lighter and more tender- a great addition to The Boys world.

Enjoyable

I didn't read any of the other books in the series, but i didn't have a problem figuring out anything in this book. I'm a big fan of fake dating, so this was prefect. You can tell right away they have chemistry. I want expecting the twist in the custody case halfway through, but it worked. I'll definitely check out more of the authors books.

Tropes:
-childhood friends to enemies to lovers
-marriage of convenience
-college romance
-second chance
-hockey

“My intent is to press a quick kiss to her lips, but a wave of heat washes through me the second our lips touch. More. I need more. Not just more; I need everything.”

I am never disappointed with Micalea’s books and this one is no different! Rule Breakers Fall Hardest is Daire and Rosie’s story.

Daire and Rosie were childhood friends and attend the same college. This is a slow burn and reading how their relationship grew was heartwarming. I love how they eventually became one another’s safe space and became a team.

Rosie is a great character and she’s always there for those she cares about. Daire can be a little frustrating at the beginning, but he’s a wonderful complement to her. They had undeniable chemistry.
