**4 / 4.5 STARS (again, can't decide)**

I loved this one just as much as the first book! I was afraid the sequel was going to be a little anticlimactic, but it was just the opposite! I loved the characters in the first book, and my love for them has continued to grow. Just the idea of this series in general intrigues me so much. This book ended on a pretty calm note... I'm unsure of what is to come, but I'm excited to see what happens and how this series will end!

I love this series! Lisa McMann is a wonderful storyteller, her spare prose offering a short novel that vibrates with real emotion, a genuine suspense filled page turner. I’m totally mesmerized by Janie’s unique gift (what a premise!) and taken in by her plight. The undercover “procedural” elements seemed a bit contrived this time around, a little “Scooby-Doo” if you will, but by the end, the seriousness of the crime she is investigating had me reading on the edge of my seat.

I can’t say enough about Cabel --- he’s stealing my heart –-- sweet, flawed, fiercely loyal, battling his own personal demons, and an all around, unassuming hero. The scenes shared between he and Janie are tender, just lovely in their innocent discovery of one another -- I was truly moved as these two neglected, rejected pseudo-orphans reached out to the other in sheer wonderment. Fade is grittier than Wake, and deals with more mature subject matter, so I wouldn’t recommend this series for younger more sensitive readers.

This was a great continuation of the first book.

I still love the characters and the concept; but this one's plot felt too forced. Especially when Cabe breaks up with Janie, it felt like a plot device. And the still unexplained nature of Ms. Stubin's dream appearances to Janie is starting to bother me a little.

I loved the first book in this series, and I definitely loved this one. Just to emphasize what an amazing read it was, I was so immersed in the series that I started the first book, Wake at midnight, and read nonstop until I finished the last sentence of Fade, at around 4 in the morning. (Btw--I wouldn't advise doing this if you have church four hours later. Just saying.)

The two main characters, Janie and Cable are both very conflicted, but extremely easy to like and sympathize with. They seem perfectly real, even though the premise of the books, that Jamie can be in peoples dreams is fiction. (Well, as far as I know.)

The book is also written beautifully; it felt a lot like poetry in some places. It has almost a complete absence of relationship cliches, and Janie and Cabel's relationship is filled with flaws, which make it fresh and believable. All of the romantic scenes between them are extremely intense, and it seems like their love seeps through the pages. I thought that Cabel's love for Janie was adorable, but at the same time realistic, and not perfect like some novels.

The one complaint I have about Fade is that in some parts are confusing, like when Janie suddenly enters someone else's dream. Also the ending is pretty bittersweet, so I would suggest having the third book, Gone, nearby, because you'll want to read it after finishing Fade.

Fade is a beautifully written book, with complex characters, an unpredictable plot, and of course a romance that any girl couldn't help but love. It will definitely suck you in until the last page, and leave you thinking about Janie and Cabe long after you finish.

Definitely one of those books where the sequel is better than the original. With the setup of Janie's gift out of the way, we can jump right into trouble. Janie and Cabe are out to catch a suspected sexual predator at their high school. Janie is set up as bait and Cabe is less than thrilled about it. It doesn't take long to find their target, but things quickly spiral out of control.

At the same time, Janie finds out more than she wanted to know about her future as a dream catcher.

I'm a sucker for scars, emotional or otherwise, and Janie and Cabel have them in spades. Luckily they've also got Captain who gives me the warm fuzzies each time she shows up.

A weaker book than the first, in my opinion. Perhaps this weakness is due merely to the book's place in the middle of a trilogy... While Wake felt like a cohesive whole, Fade seems to be comprised of fractured parts: the crime investigation doesn't really dovetail with the love story, and neither completely integrates with the process Janie undergoes in learning how to control and understand her ability. I look forward to the third, and final, book in the hopes that each of these three components can be brought back fully into engagement with each other. All of that being said, this is a well-paced and enjoyable read. I got through the first half of the book in an hour, then had to put it down against my will. I inhaled the rest of the book in 45 minutes the next day. I will definitely read the concluding book, Gone, when it comes out next Spring.

everything about janie’s journey as a dreamcatcher is really ramping up, and it’s good. pgs. 175-190 made me want to vomit.

I like these books cause the author puts just enough of everything in it, just enough love story, mystery, craziness to keep you interested. It was a quick read and I enjoy the characters, I can't wait to see what the final book brings for them.

I thought this was just as good as Wake . It was addicting I found myself staying up into the early morning hours just to finish it . I couldn't close the book until I had finished . It kept me interested and curious. I'm doing an obituary for this book.
