I just LOVE Hellboy. The storyline is awesome, the theme's (WWII, occult, etc.) are epic and the artstyle is amazing. Guillermo Del Toro already said it all in the introduction: "A perfect, effortless line that reduces all us amateur illustrators to nothing but salivating Salieris prostate before a Mozart symphony.". Can't wait to read volume 6. But first I have to finish my thesis.

Mike Mignola's heart and soul goes into every Hellboy book and its always evident. Here, Hellboy's history comes back to haunt him and it is haunting. His art IS Hellboy and I loved it. Seeing Hellboy deal with the bureaucracy of the B.P.R.D. is always interesting. I wish the book was longer, especially after reading the epilogue. Another great Hellboy read.

Of all the hellboy graphic novels so far this has some of the prettiest art and most compelling story

Lobster Johnson makes his first appearance, and I kept having the urge to say "pow!" or " zowee!" whenever Lobster was in action.
And dear, wonderful Roger is on this mission with Hellboy. And the head honcho at the BPRD shows some definite specism, which rightly disgusts Hellboy.

Probably the darkest out of the five I’ve read but the charm at the heart of the others still shines through with one of the most satisfying endings.

Big changes are afoot as Hellboy begins taking some major steps on his personal journey, which entails a far deeper and broader path than his role as a BPRD agent may allow. But how far will his journey really take him? This volume also introduces some wonderful new characters and continues Mignola's 1.000 average as one of the premier writer-artists of our age.

This one has everything you want in a Hellboy story. Nazi's using science to bring evil gods to destroy the earth. Roger and Hellboy tricked by a young woman.
