This is a me thing, but I hate liars and there is a lot of lying in this. I didn’t have strong feelings for the person doing said lying so it just gave me the ick most the book.

No me ha gustado nada este libro. Nada, nada, nada. Los personajes principales se me hicieron pesados, histéricos, desesperados, cansinos... lo acabé por pura cabezonería. Y la historia es de lo más absurda, ñoña y títpica. No aporta nada.

A really light reading about love, books and cooking. Nothing too complicated, just something nice to move away from a too nice reading hanging on my mind ;)

“Perché le cose brutte o deprimenti capitano sempre a novembre? Novembre è il periodo peggiore che si può immaginare per essere infelici.”
È questo che pensa un pomeriggio Aurélie Bredin, dopo essere stata lasciata quattro a zero dal fidanzato Claud.
Per puro caso fortuito si rifugia in una libreria e si imbatte in un romanzo d’amore intitolato “il sorriso delle donne”. Aurélie non legge di solito, preferisce la cucina e il giardinaggio ma si trova totalmente rapita da questo libro e in un passaggio viene proprio citato il suo ristorante “Le Temps des cerises” sa benissimo che le coincidenze non esistono così decide di contattare l’autore per ringraziarlo personalmente. Si reca alla casa editrice ma viene bloccata da Andrè, l’editor del romanzo.
Prima avventura con un libro di Barreau e devo dire che mi è piaciuto ma con riserva.
L’ambientazione è magica, Parigi è descritta alla perfezione. Unica cosa che mi ha fatto abbassare la valutazione finale è stata Aurélie.
Ha 32 anni, come le piace spesso rimarcarlo durante la narrazione, ma si comporta come una quindicenne in piena crisi ormonale. È una vera lagna e lo rimane per tutto il libro. Mentre Andrè salva tutta la baracca.
Il nostro caro editor si trova nei guai: ha scritto con lo pseudonimo di Robert Miller il best seller “il sorriso delle donne” solo che ora il capo redattore vuole incontrare il fantomatico autore e Aurélie si presenta insistentemente in ufficio.
“Fumare fa male. Mangiare fa male. Bere fa male. Tutte le cose piacevoli fanno male o come minimo fanno ingrassare. Troppa eccitazione fa male. Troppo lavoro fa male. In pratica la vita non è altro che un pericolosissimo campo minato e alla fine cadi dalla scala mentre raccogli le ciliegie o finisci sotto una macchina mentre vai a comprare il pane, come la portinaia nell’Eleganza del riccio”

Prfffffffff, me lo compré en un Re-Read porque estaba barato y tenía pinta de ser un libro ligero y ameno, pero no me ha gustado nada, lleno de clichés y drama, irreal. Parece más una historia para vender que nacida de dentro. No sé, no me ha gustado. Lo bueno es que no es muy largo y se lee rápido.

The tagline of this book says “This book will make you happy” (I read this book in Spanish, so I’m not sure if the phrase goes exactly like that). BUT this is my tagline: “This book will make you feel like The Hulk!”
I don’t like to say this, but I really hated this story.
First of all, this is sold like an intelligent, charming, and blah story when it’s the contrary. God, I’m so angry that I feel that I’m also writing in a not intelligent way!
We have this totally cliché plot full of lies and a pair of immature couple in their 30′s that act worse that teenagers. We have Aurélie, who’s recently been dumped by her boyfriend, so she ends with a two-day “depression”, and I’m using quotes in the word because that’s what the synopsis says, not what happened; she forgets about this when she reads a book “about her” and saves her life. At first, when I found this book, I thought this would be metaphorically… my mistake. The character of the book is actually her, physically, so I DON’T UNDERSTAND how a book that describes my physical appearance can save me. Then, because she has practically seen heaven, goes nuts when she tries to find the author (and he doesn’t even exist).
Then we have André, a person that at first I believed was the one with common sense… NOPE! He falls in love at first sight and creates an awful story around himself just to get in touch with Aurélie. He’s the bridge between “the author” and this girl. He doesn’t get the hints that Aurélie gives him about not being interested and he doesn’t understand. There was a moment that got me on my nerves:
“Do you know that you’re a really bad person, monsieur Chabanais?”
“Yes, I know. I’m worse than you can imagine.”
And I was like: “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GIRL! PAY ATTENTION!”
He gets so obsessed that he makes things that aren’t healthy in any way. But “he’s in love” and that’s what it matters, right? (This f****** weirdo). And Aurélie HATED HIM most of the time and then… loved him? WT…
And the writing? Barreau spoils himself saying things like “I looked at the writing, as it was the key to unveil Miller’s mystery. And it was. But I couldn’t see it in that moment.” Lord, have mercy! Also, the synopsis says that this book is filled with books, recipes… I’m sorry, but there’s no mention of a real book and the recipes are attached at the end of the book, resulting in a waste of sheets.

Autor ma znova potešil. Jeho štýl písania mi veľmi sedí. Skvelo vytvára vety a slovami sa vie pekne pohrať. Príbeh bol miestami až poetický.
Opisy, ktoré ja v knihách nemám rada, opäť skvelo zvládol. Naozaj som sa cítila, že sa po parížskych uliciach prechádzam aj ja. A keďže som Paríž sama navštívila o to lepší pocit som mala, keď sa mi vybavoval môj výlet.
Keď autor opisoval jednotlivé jedla, mala som chuť dvihnúť telefón a presne to jedlo si objednať. Šampanské, chutné a kvalitné vína nesmeli chýbať tiež. Krásne zákutia, reštaurácie, kaviarničky, dokonca ja kníhkupectvo krásne dopĺňali celý príbeh.
Príbeh bol milý, nenútený a dobre sa čítal. Taká jednohubka, ktorá nemala ani veľa strán.

Postavy boli reálne vykreslené, žiadne vyumelkované postavy bez jedinej chyby. Aurélia bola typická Parížanka s vlastnou reštauráciou. Bola milá a usmievavá. Ale úsmev na perách nemala stále a prihodilo sa jej aj pár nepekných udalostí. Na druhej strane „anglický“ spisovateľ, ktorý napísal knihu (taktiež s názvom Úsmev ženy) do ktorej sa Aurélia zaľúbila a túžila sa s autorom stretnúť. A nesmieme zabudnúť ani na vydavateľa Chabanaisa, ktorý v pribehu zohrá tiež dôležitú úlohu.
Síce som vedela ako príbeh bude pokračovať a ako skončí, ale zážitok mi to nezničilo. Kniha mi padla vhod, nakoľko som si chcela prečítať niečo nenútené a hlavne oddychové.
