Someone Else's Love Story by Joshilyn Jackson

When I picked up this novel, I expected a straightforward love story — silly, really, considering the book's title. Instead, I discovered a novel that tells a tale of love(s), while exulting in people's differences, hidden strength, and interdependency.

The narrators, Shandi and William, present very unique perspectives and inner dialogues, and while William's nature makes him harder to understand initially, his journey becomes utterly compelling.

Despite the novel opening with an armed robbery, the "good stuff" comes much later, as we gain insight into our narrators' pasts and hopes for the future and encounter some unexpected twists.

While this novel was not what I expected, it was a novel I thoroughly enjoyed.

3.5 stars. This book started a bit slow but it got better as it went and there were definitely a few surprises. A light summer read.

I had a serious problem with the last few pages of this book. Everything was absolutely wonderful until the last ten pages. And it startled me because Jackson always writes such strong female characters, and then to end the book like that?!
I don't know, I feel like the ending completely ruined it for me.

I am really torn between 3 stars and 4. I love the authors style and this book was no exception. Something about this one left me wanting though. Too many storylines left too unfinished, imo. Reading on my kindle, I had no idea I was at the end when it ended. That was disappointing.

One of Jackson's best books, in my opinion. I didn't want it to end.

I didn't love it. I didn't hate it.

Despite the silly names this author always comes with (Shandi? Mimmy? Walcott?) I really enjoyed this one. Just enough depth to balance out the goofy Southern-ness, and an actual twist that surprised me pleasantly.

UGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. This book was pretty bad. I read the whole thing, so I guess that's why I gave it 2 stars. Everything about this book is completely ridiculous and unbelievable. Even if you are ok with suspending disbelief for a bit, this one requires it for everything. In the whole book. Pass on this one.
