I didn’t expect the ending to be
left on an implication
, and I’m not sure if I liked it or not. On one hand,
I usually enjoy an open ending so I can imagine multiple resolutions.
And I do like that here; it feels intentional, not like a cop out. But on the other hand, there were so many weird things
(the teeth?! Rosa crying on the side of the road? The flamingos and the flamingo-pink vomit?)
that I’d love to know more of the author’s imagination and creativity about. What does he think was happening? How does it all connect in the creator’s mind?

At this point, we're all used to the "end of the world/dystopian future" genre. This book takes that genre and zooms in the focus to just one individual experience. One small group of people has to deal with the fallout from....something. They don't know what.
If you need answers or closure, this isn't really the story for you. But if you love stories that take familiar tropes and turn them into something unique, you'll love it. I really enjoyed the humanity and realness of the characters, as well as the shifting POV.
