Morgan does a great job of providing equal parts, fantasy, romance, and comedy. This book gives me a lot of Princess Bride vibes, with just the right amount of fantasy, humor, and action. The characters don’t take themselves too seriously even though they deal with serious themes. The characters provide much comedic relief, especially Nyx and Fin. I enjoyed Atlas (my gosh, did I want his POV of this book so I could get inside his head).
Shaye was equal parts a fighter, but also someone who had been very sheltered given the world she lived in. Watching her grapple with the lies she was fed was difficult, but it also made her a fighter. I think we can all see a little bit of that in ourselves.
The plot moved quickly and was entertaining. I love this fun world of magical creatures Morgan has created and I cannot wait to go back.
Overall, it’s a really good fantasy to read when you feel the pressure or the weight of stress or heaviness. It’ll give you the perfect moment of escapism that will make you smile and crave more.

Princesses, magic wielders, and a journey through kingdoms—what’s not to love?
My girlfriend picked this book out of a free library in Auburn, AL, and suddenly I was tearing through this piece of literature.
This book built a world of elves and dwarfs while still being relatable to the world we live in. The character development of Shaye was well timed, and her growing relationship with the Harland brothers and Eris is so sweet.
I expected this book to come to a conclusion regarding the war with Bastian and therefore was a little caught off guard when it ended without that. Regardless, I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book!

This was my first book by Gauthier, and I went in not really having any idea what the book was about. I was not disappointed. Holy tension! It was off the charts!
Gauthier created a fascinating world which she described beautifully. I would love to be able to visit this world and meet all of the creatures that inhabit it (the good ones, at least!). The politics of the different races was fascinating, and I love how it all tied together in the end, but left you with questions that will be (hopefully) answered in the next books.
The characters were very well developed, and I don't think I've loved a set a magical brothers this much. Atlas, Finn, and Nyx were fun, sexy, and mysterious. I loved their bond and the relationships they built with Shaye. Shaye's development was perfect. She started not knowing much about her world, believing prejudices she'd been taught, and ended still cautious, but slowly opening up. I love that her beliefs didn't shift right away, and her inner uncertainty and questioning was perfect!
The romance and tension in this book is off the charts. Who doesn't love a sexy shadow fae? Atlas is right up there with all the rest of book boyfriends. I can't wait to watch Shaye's and Atlas's relationship grow.
I can't recommend this book enough if you're looking for a fantasy romance, with lots of swoony tension, fun and engaging characters, and a colorful and intriguing world.

I don’t know how I’m going to wait until the next book in this series
The FMC is pretty annoying and I don’t think the writing style is for me. I might revisit in the future but for now it’s a no from me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
I LOVED this book. I literally ignored some of my errands and to do list to stay home and binge this book in about a day—it’s that good!
The found family, magical brothers, enemies to forced allies, diverse world, and hilarious banter had me totally sucked in. Atlas is such a swoony MMC and I loved all of his little lines to get under Shaye’s skin. I thought Shaye was a likable FMC, and I loved her growth from being a naive and sheltered princess to being exposed to the real world and new adventures (can’t say more than that, because, spoilers!). The little bits of backstory we learn about Eris and Finn made me love them so much, and you can count on Nyx to provide laughter at all the right moments. The amount of loyalty, acceptance, and respect their little group shares for each other just pulled at my heart strings.
This is book 1 in a series, and I thought the ending was just perfect. I am already SO excited for book 2 to come out and will absolutely be continuing the series!!

when I read the blurb on this book I was instantly intrigued. I purchased this book because I was afraid I would not get to read it without having it stare at me...... I am so glad I did. this book was beautiful and sweepingly epic...... the magic system is intriguing. The two main characters chemistry leaps off the pages. the other characters are just as interesting which I love, you care about the other characters and what is going on. I am so excited to read the next book and read more about this world.

Awesome world building; clever overarching plot; fun and intriguing MMC & MFC. There are a lot of places the author could take book 2, I’m ready!
