I haven’t read F51, so the graphic novel was very confusing for me. For me, a good graphic novel adaptation is understandable and does not sacrifice the context of scenes in the original material, so it’s a no from me. However, I quite enjoyed the themes and story — I think once I read the novel version of F51, I can revisit this and change my thoughts. The art was beautiful though!

Having just read the book, I didn't enjoy this version as much as I might have otherwise. It was solid, but lacked the lyrically magnificent descriptions of the novel.

I wanted to like this but I think the graphic novel adaptation didn’t work. The book didn’t make sense, as if whole panels were omitted. I only finished it because, as a graphic novel, it was quick.

English class kills every book I read because of having to analyze for a grade. But when I reread it just for fun, I have to say, I loved this adaptation. This book was beautiful in so many ways. And I think the art adds something that the original book lacked. Beautiful story, beautiful art. Beautiful book.

A good graphic adaptation but I think I prefer the original

"I'd like to take an amazing book and turn it into a lackluster graphic novel."

"Perfect! I have just the book. But first, you'll have to promise me the art will be really dark and unappealing."

"Done! Also, would it be cool if I shortened everything and got rid of a lot of the character development?"

"I liked that sentence so much it was like an angelic chorus sang it to me!"
