Meraviglioso, forse la mia opera teatrale preferita. Cirano è un personaggio straordinario, forte eppure fragile, coraggioso ma ultra consapevole di se stesso.
Capace di combattere contro mille nemici senza nemmeno sudare ma timido e impacciato quando tocca al suo cuore parlare.
Credo di sentirlo vicino perché anch'io ho questi problemi, non riesco a esprimere bene i miei sentimenti mentre non ho remore a esporre tutto ciò che mi passa per la testa.
Comunque sia, Cirano ha una favella magica e riesce a esprimere grandi ideali e travolgenti sentimenti.
Insomma mi ha rapito il cuore.
La storia è agrodolce, si intende bene l'affetto che è presente tra Rossana e il cugino ma anche il turbolente periodo storico, in piena guerra.

Hard to start, easy to finish.
The amount of characters and the brevity of their dialogue made it hard to follow at the start, but once I got into the groove it flowed well.
It’s a masterful story of love and humour. A wonderful fantasy which ought to stand the test of time.

I read this in high school and absolutely loved it, so I was glad to revisit it. I listened to the audio version performed by LA Theatre Works, which I highly recommend. Considering that it's been many years since I've originally read this, there was a lot to unpack. Overall, the play is a tragedy and a romance and still utterly hilarious. Cyrano is quick witted and not afraid to cut anyone down with his words, which makes for an excellent reader's experience. The real issues that I had was how the overall content hasn't aged well. Considering the time it was written, audiences would have loved the disguise and mistaken identity elements, and it's clear that that lead it to being the classic that it is today. However, from a modern lens, there is so much problematic content here in terms of consent. I knew how it would end since I've read it before, and I also took into account the time period, so I wasn't as put off by it. But I can imagine this being a huge obstacle for some readers.
