D’une douceur! Et la grandeur du cœur de Cyrano. Laisser tomber son bonheur en l’honneur de son ami, et seulement parce qu’il était plus beau! (avez-vous remarqué? je rime.) Trêve de plaisanteries; j’ai beaucoup aimé ce livre. C’était drôle, c’était puissant et les personnages, mais tellement attachants! Pauvre Roxane; « Je n’aimais qu’un seul être et je le perds deux fois! » Ça résume bien le livre. Bon. J’ai plus rien à dire.

De geestelijke en de lichamelijke liefde: Cyrano en Christian. Of hoe iemand die lelijk is (de beroemde lange neus...) zo fijnzinnig en spiritueel kan zijn, zo poëtisch en wijs. Rijkdom van geest boven rijkdom van bezit: dat is de grote boodschap van dit prachtig toneelstuk...

This is the best play I’ve ever read. Witty, laugh out loud hilarious, and a tear inducing tragedy. Two completely opposite men in love with the same woman; one hideously talented in verse, the other beautifully ignorant. A story that will always withstand the test of time. I cannot thank Rostand and his undeniable genius enough. Some plays are meant to only be seen and lack when being read, but this is one that I will devour over and over and over again. A favorite.
