While this started quite nicely and builds up with a good tension and a balanced comedy, the final act seems a bit too forced and shallow to me. The characters are ... not that annoying, so that's fine. But there's a lot of craft going on in here so that's kind of cool!

I really liked this. A little of the humor felt very specific to the time period, one gets the sense that it was never intended to be timeless, but the character of Cyrano is so strong, and fragile, in very unexpected ways. I imagine that it is even better in the original.
