Shakespeare said, "For never was a story of more woe, / Than this of Juliet and her Romeo." but I think he was wrong. If never was a story more woe, what was it this one of Cyrano?
Of Cyrano who said all those words in the shade and pushed Christian to kiss Roxane? And just sadly whispered to himself, "That kiss had something in it meant for me, / Since on his lips his mistress kissed my words."
Of Cyrano who lured De Guiche for the sake of Chirstian and Roxane's complete wedding?
Of Cyrano who wrote all those letters to Roxane under the name of Christian?
Of Cyrano who cried upon Roxane's tear over Christian's death that, "And I can die today, / Happy, since in his name she weeps for me"?
Of Cyrano who upon his last breath still rejected to Roxane, "My dearest love, / I never loved you."?
With all this, yet never was a story more woe?
God, I could even write pages of essay as an honour of Cyrano's truest and bravest love! Wait, could I give this book more than 5 stars???

This book was quite exciting, and I found the poetry and dramatic language very fun and entertaining. While this book was somewhat confusing due to my lack of ability to read and understand play scripts, I still enjoyed it a lot.

Cyrano can burrow under the thick skin of any adolescent guy. My 'toughs' get him...his good heart, his rough exterior, his insecurities, his bluster. It's like Rostand was reaching across the century into my classroom in Norman OK. Some of my most memorable, touching moments in the classroom involve this piece.
I have come to appreciate my job as tutor because it introduces me to classics I never read in school. I have seen several movie versions of this play but had never read it. Cyrano is now one of my all time favorite characters.
Oh all the classical romantique era books, this is my favorite. The story is simple and straightforward, and is a good representation of what this period of french literature was like. I read for the first time when I was in school, and I keep reading it along the years, and I always enjoy the simple and beautiful story.

Wow. I wasn't expecting that. This book is so well written, definitely one of the best book I've read this year!
