I really loved this book and I assure you - it's one of the best about shifters. The plot was exciting, the romance was beautiful and I loved the characters a lot. What I appreciate - there was not too much drama (many shifters' books are too full of it), and I really loved the style of writing - it was pleasant and easy to read. So, highly recommended!
Angry.
I bought this book because I thought it was going to be AWESOME!
it was not awesome. The protagonist got on my nerves a bit and the story was
so slow even though this book is only 263 pages the story was slow.
I found myself flipping the pages of crap I didn't care about and just
moving on to the good parts... still didn't work.
I'd still recommend this book to anyone who loves YA werewolf novels.
damn it! I really wanted to enjoy this book. @#$#$@$#^^$@#@#@!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt for Kayla because she was bombarded with all this stuff. Yet she took it in stride. She is so tough with loosing people important then returning to the place. I love Lucas he is so confident, strong, and yet caring and absolutley in love. I like that those feelings get explained instead of just having them declare their mate and leaving it at that.
I picked this up thinking it would be another book that had jumped onto the Twilight bandwagon. The first book is Moonlight (Twilight) and the next book in the series is Full Moon (New Moon). It definitely had a Twilight feel to it, especially because it had the format of a quick prologue that takes place toward the end of the story during a moment of tension.
That said, I did enjoy this book. I really liked that it took place in the woods with a group of camping/hiking guides. There aren't nearly enough camping stories, so I felt like this filled a gap. The plot was quick and exciting, and the writing had an easy, fun tone. It wasn't a revelation of great literature, but was still genuinely enjoyable.

I really, really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. However, I didn't find it "amazing", so I couldn't give it all five stars. It was good, great even, but I don't know that the characters and their story will stay with me as others have.
For me, even though there was suspense and romance and some edge-of-your-seat scenes, I didn't feel that grip on my emotions that I have with other books. Maybe because the book is so short (only 263 pages), maybe because I had to keep putting it down because life was getting in the way.
Regardless, Moonlight is an excellent quick read with likable characters (Lucas? Swoon!) and a fast moving plot. The end is wrapped up nicely for the lead characters, Kayla and Lucas, with enough left open to continue to the series.
I will definitely read the rest of the Dark Guardian series and recommend it to others who enjoy a little shifting with their YA romances. :)

Darker then her other books and really good, I loved the whole series.
I loved this book! I had an idea of what I wanted or really what I was expecting before I started and it was exactly the type of book I had in mind.
I wanted a fun, easy read, with a little bit of fantasy and romance! And that’s just what Hawthorne delivered! The plot is really quick moving, and engaging. The characters are developed, but not necessarily deep. It was just a great story, I’m a sucker for romance.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Which is told in romance style, so each book is follows different characters, but still incorporates the characters from the previous novel as well. For example, the next novel, Full Moon, features Lindsey, which also happens to be a character in Moonlight, so you’ll already know a little bit about her before you even start reading the next book!
Overall light and fluffy, but completely satisfying!
