Interesting idea; poor, rambling execution.

It's okay, as far as dystopian books go. It was a bit too short to be as epic as it tried to be: they're fighting the Lost Boys! They're running through Antarctica! They're killing tigers! It seemed like it was trying a bit too hard. Also, the worry is one that matters a little bit less now that we're in the future as it did back then, in the age of Soylent Green... overpopulation, for example, is listed as 6 billion in the novel, and it just hit 7. So that and it's kinda half-assed political message ("We should be allowed to grow old!" Yeah, no one disagrees with you there) made the whole subtext a little bit ludicrous.

Still, a fun read.

A decent story but I would have liked more world building. I am more interested in the implications of a society that kills its citizens when they turn 21 than this specific character on the run. Certain elements made me wonder if I was even reading the same book, at times. It's a short read. If you have the time, check out this classic, but it probably won't knock your socks off in terms of creative science fiction only because of more familiar imitators I'm sure.

I've got the book as it was mentioned in an article about another book. Well, you know the drill: one cannot have an opinion without at least trying to read the above mentioned book.

This turned to be more then a disappointment - this is an absolute example of time lost.

The book is boring. The plot is too simplified and lacks inner logic. The heroes are flat (Logan among them) and uninspiring. Even though the book is very short (well, it has this one virtue), it took an enormous amount of willpower to finish it.

If you're looking to read about a dystopian society with voluntary euthanasia, look for "The Bull's Hour" by Ivan Yefremov.

I'm not sure how old Nolan and Clayton were when they wrote this, but it definitely felt like it came from the mind of 12 year old boys. Why develop character or plot points when you can just add in a change of scenery and a robot every couple of pages? Seems like a solid strategy. My copy had pictures from the movie stuck in the middle which only confused me more, since the movie seems to have a totally different but equally bad storyline. I do not recommend this book unless you are an actual 12 year old boy.

Oh dear..... A rare instance when the movie is better than the book.

Watch the movie it's much better.
This was great for the first 100 pages with some rather dodgy parts, then it got repetitive and the ending was totally non representative of the story line let alone the movies ending.

A product of the 60’s, in particular the Vietnam war, and the fear of the bomb. Nolan creates a story about the young, for the young, and a future that’s a mishmash of politics and dystopian ideas found in better novels.

No one can live over the age of 21. Once the age is reached, death is mandatory. Sometimes people run. Logan is a hunter of such rebels. That is until his time comes.

The first half is really fun, even if the writing is pretty bad. The middle drags a little, with too many references to the civil war, but fortunately the ending is pretty satisfying.

Overall, Logan’s Run is exactly what you expect, a pulpy sci-fi adventure story that is easy to digest. Entertaining trash.
