Gabriel is my favorite character, so it was nice to read a little glimpse at his life before he met Nathan.

i really hoped for more gabriel characterisation but all it really was was him meeting rose and mercury and that’s about it - and some strange guy looking for him which may add to half wild but idk yet

Too long since I read the rest of this trilogy - I feel I have forgotten some of the storyline- I enjoy the world of this story.

I was excited to see more of Gabe's story but I saw almost nothing. 2-3 things I didn't care about, along with other people's views. And just when we got to the part that was interesting, Gabe's thoughts about Nat, the book ended. Such a disappointment and a waste of time.

3/5 stars:

This was a very very short story and I wish it had been longer.

I really liked having the opportunity to read from Gabriel's POV for the first time and to see him struggle with his situation (being stuck as a fain). I also really liked the slight introduction we got to his insight on Black Witches, his own identity and belonging.

Jon's POV was really useless, in my opinion, and we could have perfectly done without it and just had more Gabriel.

Reading Gabriel meeting Nathan for the first time was really interesting, especially how he talks about the mysterious pull he feels towards him and how he feels more magical than anyone he has ever met.

I have enjoyed the two short stories that are part of the Half Blood universe although they felt pretty weak to me. But they have done a great job of getting me very pumped to read the second book of the trilogy. Amazon is supposed to be delivering it tomorrow and I can't wait!
