Wow, what a roller coaster of a book!
Hugh Howey really keeps you guessing during this read. The world is revealed slowly, you can't count on the safety of the characters... And the tension! So much tension.
A really cool concept and a fun read.

Wool by Hugh Howey is a dystopian novel centering on what is left of humanity after an unspecified disaster led their ancestors to take shelter in the silo. No one is allowed outside, and even an expression of curiosity about the outside can be punished. The story follows Juliette, the new sheriff who was appointed after the previous security chief is sent outside. She must uncover a conspiracy that threatens everyone in the silo.
I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover—or its title—but I wasn’t sure if I would read this book since the title didn’t seem to match the description. But I’m glad I didn’t listen to my doubts because this book was fantastic! I’m a fan of dystopian stories, and I wasn't disappointed.
The book had such thorough world-building, and the environment of the silo was so detailed. The characters felt real and were well-rounded. I didn’t think that the scenes with Jahns and Marnes were strictly necessary, but they did help illustrate the relationship dynamics in the silo. Everything was controlled, including relationships, but the citizens of the silo have no choice and make the best of it.
There were many characters and POVs, but the story did come together smoothly. The plot was fast-paced despite the level of detail included in the book. The world-building was elaborate and enhanced the storytelling. The characters came alive.

Originally DNF’d a year ago as I struggled to get engaged with the writing style, even after having seen the show. Was feeling in the mood recently and glad I picked it back up- it became a very fast read. I’m glad I saw the show first as there were changes from the text in the show (as is typical) that I was able to enjoy in the show but nothing that was, to me, jarringly different or off. Interesting world that left room for more but some elements felt rushed or not fully explained.
