Loved the first half but then Frankie became really annoying and childish. Agree with the other reviews that it’s trying too hard

I loved this book, and it definitely turned Kevin Wilson into an auto-buy author. Nothing To See Here was in my top ten books last year, and I have no doubt this one will be in my favorites for 2025. I just love a story that is indescribably mysterious and oddly compelling - and this book is just that. The characters are well described, and I loved them - they were a little quirky and heartwarming, but also kind of odd and misfit-ish. It's got coming-of-age vibes, along with angst, drama, art, memory, friendship, community, and aging. It highlights the impact art and friendship can have in life, and the dialogue is sharp and soft at the same time. I also loved the author's note, and it added a lot of meaning and value to the story. This will be an easy recommendation to anyone who loves a little comforting weirdness.

This is the kind of book where I’m like, how does anyone come up with something like this? But it was also SUPER nostalgic; I loved stories like this when I was a kid, except we got the bonus of meeting the main characters after they’ve grown up, instead of ending with the tragic or bittersweet goodbye.
