Perfectly okay read. Not super Christmassy, but definitely present.

I really liked Alfie, but I had a hard time really warming up to Leo. I felt like he was kind of judgemental asshole, and while I understood his reasons for the misunderstanding to start with, it did go on for a lot longer than I really felt comfortable with. Didn't really feel a huge connection between the two, TBH, and the smut was tepid at best.

2020 reread. 4 stars. Comfort Christmas read but this time I was a bit more angry at Leo. Still love it, still really cute.

How stinking cute is this story! Hallmark needs to make this into one of their schmoopy Christmas films ASAP. It’s a feel good cozy kind of Christmas, with an epilogue that does the genre justice.

I could see returning to this one in a few years down the line as a reliable comfort Christmas read.

I love You Got Mail/Shoppe Around the Corner stories where enemies in real life hate each other but in cyber/letter life, bond and connect with the best of them. This story had that in spades and then some.

Alfie was the owner/operator of his family garage. He had run the family business full time, due to what I believe was his father's illness, necessitating his dropping out of school. His lack of education made him self-conscious, but it didn't squelch his love of Jane Austin and other classic novels. And that love of classic novels gave him a connection with LLB on-line, a relationship that had been cultivated over a wonderful year.

Leo was the owner/operator of a used bookstore. He was more of a loner in town, keeping to himself. He also loved his books and all the classical literature. He felt a connection to Camero89, his on-line friend.

Too bad the two of them hated each other in RL. Due to rude and pompous behavior on Leo's part and strong and equally rude behavior back on Alfie's part at the town's Christmas party, the dye was cast, and the two of them couldn't help but continuing that rudeness throughout the year.

It was fun, watching these two discover their connection in RL. Leo's apology was unique and perfect for the two of them. The epilogue was just what I needed to complete this story.

When I read the line "they'd been through an emotional wringer", I couldn't help thinking it applied to us readers too. Looking forward to the moment when the characters who had been online "boyfriends" for months would find out they knew each other in real life (while at the same time not really wanting that moment to arrive too soon, because knowing while they didn't was fun), worrying about what would inevitably happen (but when and how?), then... oh, the way it was fixed! (Sorry I'm vague. I don't want to say too much.) All that with both points of view (which I always like). Loved it.

Sweet christmas love story

Love around the corner is a fluffy chriatmas story you need to read relax with a hot chocolate. Enemy IRL. Lovers ONLINE. When the two collide and one found the thruth but decide to oeep this information to himself. Could they became lovers irl even if they have made some judgment by the cover instead of the heart? Even if their friendship is base on a white lie? Making all this releationship unstable. We all known the inevitable will happen.
Enemy to lovers. Christmas story. Met online. Hea. What do you want more?

This was recommended to me after I read a You've Got Mail retelling that just didn't hit the spot for me. So I was really happy to read this and get exactly what I wanted out of the secret online identities trope!

This is a pretty short read and I could. not. put. it. down.

My only complaint was (and minor spoiler here) the first sex scene, which happened before one of the characters gave some vital information to the other. It felt sceevy. And I felt like the only way I could enjoy a big chunk of this book was to forgive one of the characters for their actions that I'd normally be pretty skeeved about (nothing that needs content warnings, I don't think, just some good old fashioned not being honest with your partner)

But it was overall a really enjoyable read that hit me right in the feels, and I'm excited to read more by the author.

I would also like to add: The scavenger hunt scene was an absolutely fantastic romantic gesture. That gets an A+ from me.

4.5 Stars!!

Sincerely one of the best holiday romances I’ve read this year!

This is basically an MM remake of the movie “You’ve Got Mail” where two individuals fall for the other over online correspondence and when they decide to meet, one discovers that the person they’re falling for is basically their mortal enemy. Oh the horror!

Make no mistake. Alfie and Leo definitely got off on the wrong foot when they first met at a holiday party almost a year ago. It happened then, and it has continued to happen - these two men forever misinterpreting and assuming incorrectly and badly over every little interaction, all of which results in plenty of anger, hostility, mortification, and insecurity. It’s not a pretty thing to witness.

When one is in the know and the other is oblivious, it's a forgone conclusion that things will explode spectacularly once the truth is discovered, and I admit this gave me a shit ton of anxiety. However, in and amongst all that, how these two slowly become friends and “reconnect” through their common interests was wholeheartedly sweet and swoony. Both Alfie and Leo are seriously vulnerable and lonely in their day to day lives and both simply want to find that special someone to be with.

Most know I can’t resist a gentle giant and for sure, Alfie was the standout star here with his palpable want and the desire to be understood, appreciated, and known for something more than his simple exterior.

Sexy, emotional, heart felt. Highly romantic with the penultimate ending and epilogue! Just a wonderful satisfying love story!!

Enemies-to-lovers - sweet with a bit of angst

This was a fun premise for a book - two guys who were enemies in real life but were falling for each other online, and the fallout when the two worlds collided.

I enjoyed reading it, though there were several errors (even a wrong name once) that were a minor deterrent to the experience, but not enough to make me drop a star. I’d still read more from this author.

This hit all the right notes for me! It’s basically an M/M version of the movie You’ve Got Mail. I’ve watched that movie about a thousand times and now this book is going on my holiday reread list

Leo & Alfie started off on the wrong foot and both had bad impressions of each other. Thank goodness they met & fell in love online or they probably wouldn’t have gotten to know each other in person

Loved the holiday vibes and the cute “getting to know each other” scenes. The characters feelings & reactions to the whole secret online identity debacle were understandable. I get how it would be an awkward thing to confess when they’re just starting to actually know each other

The way Leo proved to Aldi’s that his feelings were genuine - HELLA romantic. I loved it. It was so “them”, and there was no way Alfie could reject him after that

This story left me feeling happy
