I (happily) did not see it coming that this was a zombie theme, and was pleasantly surprised by the ending!
Audible narration was also impeccable and helped to keep me invested near the end as their “adventuring” felt slightly dragged on. Overall very happy to have given this a chance.

Very intriguing opening, and maybe this suffered because of when I read it, but it dragged and got much less interesting. Dislike even more now that I see it’s a series- it wrapped up!

I think the ending made this book okay for me because it was something different, but I felt pretty neutral about everything leading up to it. Just wasn't really the book for me.
It's a post- apocalyptic zombie novel, except, not. That would be an oversimplification. The story explores what separates humans from monsters (if anything) and what it means to be a hero that sort of world.
