Main Characters: Leo (Phoenix) & Abigail
Trope: Thriller Dark Romance & Fantasy Play (rough but consensual)
Plot: 4/5
Spice: 5/5
Abigal & Leo were both broken. Dead inside until they play a thrilling game of cat and mouse.
A wild ride with this book from beginning to end, fast-paced, great plot, and I thoroughly enjoy my first read by Jade West.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars
I am usually not a big fan of dark romances. The cover of this book was just too pretty, and I was a moth to the flame. I am really glad I read this!💕
There are a ton of TW's, but the FMC Abigail and MMC Leo had discussed the majority of it prior before the crazy act itself. Yes, it was dirty. Yes, it was cruel and rough. Did I enjoy it? Maybe, but it was more due to the fact that I was so curious about how far it would all go. The angst and drama were *chefs kiss* and I like that their relationship eventually softened slightly into one of mutual trust.
Romance wise? I was not completely feeling the connection between them. It felt sudden when they confessed their love for each other, like one minute they are doing the dirty, seconds later they are suddenly in love. No romantic build-up.
I am happy to say, though, that I enjoyed reading this. It was my first time seeing how rough sex (and I mean brutally rough) could actually be something healthy for those involved rather than something to fear. I'm definitely not saying it's for me, but I liked dipping my toes into this world! 🐥💗

Well. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. It was primal and naughty, but where love prevails, no matter how messed up it is. Broken and hurt and grieving, Leo and Abigail find one another on a whim. For solely carnal purposes and to feel SOMETHING. What comes of that is healing. Love. And family. Quick read that tackles some serious mental health and makes you feel warm all over.
The beginning was great but it plateaued shortly after and the ending was a bit of a let down. It had the fun, dark elements to it but I also found both MCs to be pretty sweet and relatively likeable.
It seemed like this book couldn’t go a page without Leo mentioning the woman he loved that died, Mariana. He’s constantly thinking about her, comparing Abigale to her and even says she reminds him of her. Basically his entire life and personality revolved around Mariana. He had a lot of trauma and a lot he needed to work through but it’s just not my thing to read about when it’s a romance about another woman.
The thing is, this can be done well. It actually is in this very book with Abigale’s past. She also had someone from the past she loved and had something horrible happen to her as well. It’s a part of who she is and he had effected her to become who she is today but, it doesn’t overwhelm the story.
This book could have been great if it focused more on just Leo and Abigale with their past having a smaller part. It didn’t give enough time to focus on them as a couple and left it very one dimensional. Still was a fun read.

What is your darkest fantasy? Your darkest desire? This book is about it. As usual Miss West whips up a story that is so dark about human's desire and fantasy. Abigail has this fantasy being chased by monster. Its awaken her and makes her alive. She put an ad on dating online and 1 monster, Phoenix answers her. He gives her that burning fantasy.
For all of you who familiar with miss West works, it is very very dark and twisted. But compare to Buy Me, Sir, this book is milder. More melancholic. More HEA material. But I like it the same.
So read it on you own pleasure and experience the darkest fantasy with Miss West.
