--Lost my interest at Pg37--

It's such a shocker the book was such a let down. Yes, it does have its moments but somewhere around it lost my attention. Upon time, it is better understood to keep your expectations low so that you are least hurt by the best moments you were really looking forward to.

Please look after Mom tells the story of the children reminiscing about what they were doing at the moment when their mother got lost in a crowded metro station. The premise itself is a potential aim at the sentiments one has for her family. The mother is ultimate sacrificing person with utmost love for her children but the children so self-centred. It is understood why one take up this book. However, the way in which the book has been translated makes me uncomfortable. The protagonist being addressed as "You..." eg:"You are supposed to write a letter...". Nah. Perhaps it's an attempt to be super-personal with the reader which fails for me. It has been the reason why I put down the book.

I came expecting a sad book where I will get to be emotional most of the time. However, I was quite disappointed.
The book talks about the things that are already obvious, at least to me. Maybe it's because I already thought about my mum being human rather than just my mum. 'Did our mother like being in the kitchen?' The answer was obvious to me so why not to her children. A lot of the points kept repeating, so even if the book was short it felt slow and repetitive. For example, the epilogue is completely useless.
I'm not sure if it's the translation but the writing felt off. It was confusing at time and could not pick which style it wants to go with. You would be reading from third person perspective and then turn into second.
Maybe this book is good for indroductory 'how to see your mother as a person' but if you already thought of that the book is not really worth it.
To put a little praise my favourite pov was the eldest song. I felt like he was the most interesting and already knew what his mother had to go through.
