I wasn't terribly satisfied with the ending, because it's a mystery & you're not quite sure exactly what happened, but I think that's by design & I can appreciate the author's choice. I also don't love reading in second person. But wanting to know what happened kept me reading, & it's a beautiful commentary on family.

4.5⭐️
this was a ride, a beautiful and sad one. this is a book that makes reconsider the way you’ve been treating people around, and especially your mum. it makes you wonder the way you see your mum and the person she is (and was before she had you). i had moments of pure sadness reading this and applying it to my mum and thinking about what life had been for her and how she might feel now. this is a story about love too (in a very specific way) and it truly makes you wonder what youve been doing all your life to be honest. what did you make of the people you met, what did you make of the people close to you. how did you treat them, how did you feel about them. making questions if you did the right way or not. its making you wonder if you truly ever known anyone you know, makes you wonder if you did everything you could for them…did you see how this person was feeling? did you see and do nothing about it? did you see and let it go because the person told you to let it go? this is what this book is about and i think it really did well.
if you love your mum, the people around you, and yourself, this book is truly a journey for you and im glad i read it.

Lots of melodrama... And seriously? The character speaking from beyond the grave is just too much...

DNF at 50% - Honestly just couldn't get into it :(

so incredibly heartbreaking. A profound account of the consequences of a moms love. Super difficult to read because of the many different points of view but power through it because it’s worth it. The ending made me so sad!!

A lovely novel about aging, and about moms of adult kids.
