Who would have thought I would enjoy someone’s gynecological and colorectal memoir so much? The writing is excellent and the story gets right to the heart of the problems with our medical system. Ramey approaches a difficult topic with grace and humor, making this a truly enjoyable read. It was tough to put down.

This was a tough book to listen to, hearing how many times and for how many years the author was poo-pooed and not believed regarding her body and health issues. And if you are a white, female presenting, financially well off woman and you think this is bad - I can only imaging how much worse it is for any woman of color or gender non-conforming individual who does not have the insurance or the personal income to have had such an experience.

My take-away is that people like myself need to use our privilege and be vocal about funding research for women's heath issues.

DID NOT FINISH

Honestly due to my own privilege to decent healthcare I didn't realize how bad this was. It was by far the most unrealistic chronic illness memoir I have ever read. I liked the idea of the whole micro biome but wow the execution is not there. I want my money back.

Sarah Ramey tells the harrowing and frustrating story of navigating a chronic illness in the U.S. healthcare system. When I first saw that it was 400 pages, I thought that it would drag on forever, but she tells her story with grace.
