Rating this for the era it was written in, as if something like this was written today it would be a tedious read - 4/5.
I did get a beautiful copy that had a Mao with it so I could look up the places as they travelled. You had some obvious places but I like to see distance etc.
I liked the ending, guessed it when they reached America.
In all it is a very short book but will take you double the time to read it compared to modern fiction (Well for me anyways).

This is truly such an entertaining story, so informative and so so so fun. You get to see all these different story telling bases, from going on a rescue mission in india all the way to a wild western in america, and not to mention an overarching plot of a bankrobbery! There were so many things i wasnt expecting and that made it all the more fun and captivating.
The writing for me was perfect, speedy but extremely detailed, and filled out the settings just enough without making it overbearing.

While I thought this book was a little slow moving and I had a hard time really getting into it at first, by the end I still really enjoyed it. I ended up listening to the second half as an audiobook and that made it much more enjoyable for me. This book is full of twists and turns and I would recommend it for anyone who likes to travel and learn about different places around the world.
It was fun to listen to Jim Dale read it. Disappointed they didn’t actually take a hot air balloon at all even though there’s one on the cover of the book.
