How in the world does Nyx know about Tessa and Gin’s powers when we spent a whole book talking about why legion can’t find out? And aren’t all those fear completely unfounded since clearly legion and at least 1 god knew the secret and did nothing?

It might be me, but why did I waste all that time in the previous book being convinced that a secret should not come out only for it to be flaunted so blatantly here? The entire premise of why Leda joined the legion was questionable to begin with, but I was just rolling with it. This book tried everyone of my nerves. With all these supposed secrets dropping (and not tactfully, if I may add), I’m here like, why in the world did you waste my time? Since they are not that important, might as well tattoo it on the characters and use it to build a better plot rather than draw out the secrets then, with no explanation, build or reason, drop them like they never mattered.

And just to put it out there, the main character is dumb. She keeps telling everyone about her light and dark magic. The supporting characters are dumber... they keep acting surprised every time. Like why!!!!

Also how is poisoning the cat an attempt on Leda’s life? I’m actually lost.

The story could have been strung together better. It was choppy at best. And I’m so done.

3.5 Stars

I can't pinpoint why this book doesn't get more than 3.5 stars from me. Leda and Nero's relationship was as strong and steady as ever (which I really, really appreciate btw). Leda was still her snarky self and Nero still the arrogant and sexy hero. Their flirting was on a whole nother level and I loved that (seriously, I was squealing my lungs out haha), especially because only Leda can bring out Nero's playful side *swoon*. The kitten was an awesome addition to the cast. Really badass lol

Even though there were so many things that I liked, I somehow caught myself drifting off way too often, playing Candy Crush or scrolling through social media. I think the events in this installment just weren't as engaging and exciting as in the previous books. I was 100% there for the couple but only 20% for the story. Bummer...

***

Side note: long series are so difficult to review. I find myself less and less interested, the more books come out. Charley Davidson for example, Kate Daniels, Crossbreed series, Bloodline series ... All on hold right now and I can't bring myself to continue them. Is/was it the wait? The plot? Me? Probably me... which is a shame because all of them are really, really good.
