This was a pretty good mystery, a real "who dunnit". It was action packed and a page turner. It kept my attention the whole time, but it did read a bit cheesy for me. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at some of the dialogue. Imagine an episode of blue bloods or law & order. It was really entertaining and I have nothing against plot, but it was just good not great.

I just wasn't able to care or worry about the characters right until the end. And as this was a big part of the overall story arc I felt like I couldn't fully enjoy it. Interesting twists throughout though, so felt like I needed to finish it.

This was a quick and fun read. Dr. David Beck has been grieving over his wife for the last 8 years. Now all of a sudden he is receiving emails from a person who knows things only he and his wife know. David is starting to suspect that maybe his wife is still alive. Very fast-paced and exciting!

Interesting writing style. The pace is quite quick so you get sucked in quickly. There were a lot of moving pieces so not a true 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, right up until the end. After looking at the other 3 star reviews I am comforted by how many shared the sentiment, and for the same reason!

Overall, a good book. A few eye rolls as the main character tries a bit too hard be both “quick to judge” and then “self aware” so it comes off like a “no offense, but…” kinda thing. Dude was judgey; def had some preconceived notions, whatever, but it came off like “but hey I’m still a good guy and all that” like the author was afraid you’d not root for him maybe.

I thought there were enough “oh wait maybe…” moments that you kinda thought you knew where it was headed and then a few “ooohhh” and you’d readjust your guess but then…it was all ruined at the end. Too many curve balls that just ended up undoing all the good work.

Since I liked it right up until the end, I gave it 3 stars.
