Firstly, I really like the film. It's the better of the Disney-led Star Wars films.

Good adaption. Doesn't add much more than the film, but it was a good read. Some of the space battles are a chore to read, but the internal dialogues and character developments make up for it.

The communication reports dotted throughout are a nice touch. They help explain how and why a (vulnerble) exhaust port was added.

I was highly disappointed with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”. Rogue One is my favorite movie in the Star Wars cinematic universe, and I thought that the story itself would save the book no matter how it was written. I was wrong. When reading this book, the dialogue was inappropriate for the style and did not flow whatsoever. There would be direct quotes from the movie, with added on phrases or sentences that felt so out of place and elementary. As someone who watched the movie, I couldn’t help but cringe when this happened (and it happened quite a lot). Really the only thing that saved this book from one star was the brilliant and captivating character Cassian Andor himself and the fact I had already watched the movie. I can’t believe I’m saying this, and it goes against everything I stand for, but the Rogue One movie was better than the book (don’t come for me it’s a novelization of the movie so it doesn’t count).

An overly melodramatic audiobook narrator couldn't ruin this. I loved the movie, and the novelization did it justice, while adding in snatches of additional content that, while definitely unnecessary to the plot, were nevertheless enjoyable. Really liked how the audiobook version included a lot of great sound effects as well. Picturing the events was even easier than usual.

Incredible. The film was amazing- emotional, intense, hilarious. The book was all of this, plus more. I find that my experience is probably extremely heightened, what with the political climate we are currently facing in the United States. I have long been inspired by the Star Wars universe, but none have reached as far as Rogue One. The story is beautifully written, telling the tale of a group pent on making the galaxy a better place for a plethora of different reasons. Jyn Erso is a role model to women everywhere. Cassian Andor epitomizes what it means to believe in a cause and be willing to sacrifice his life- and the lives of others- to achieve it. In this day and age- in Trump's America- the lessons taught in this novel and film are incredibly potent. Resisting tyranny and rebelling against fascist rulers are key, no matter the costs. I am truly inspired to continue my fight to do what is right.

I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I hadn’t seen the movie 5+ times.
