Hands down, the best Star Wars novel I've read to date...this would have been great even without the movie. It's rare for me to read a book after seeing a movie it is based on, but I have a tradition of doing that with Star Wars movies/novelizations Freed succeeds tremendously by very strong characterization, and bringing the screenplay plot to life in novel form with immense tension. If you have read any SW novels over the years, this one is a must for your library.

It was difficult to get through at times because of how closely it resembles the movie. With that being said, the second half of the book was well worth it because it provides a lot more intimate details around the characters. Loved it and would recommend it (and the audiobook!) to any Star Wars fan.

If you know me you know I love Rogue One! This book expands a lot more on the characters and their motivations and I think it has added a lot to my enjoyment of the movie. Even though I already knew the story, some moments hit that much harder in writing (like Bodhi omg). There are some small ways in which the novelization is different, but not enough to really bother me.

Not to be dramatic, but I'm feeling ALL THE FEELS right now.

Nice to see a film novelisation that doesn't read like it's just translated the script to page. It's really well written and adds a huge amount of depth to the characters, while also managing to reflect the exciting pace of the movie. The only time it sometimes falters is in the depiction of the larger action scenes which blur into a meaningless mess at several points. Overall, impressive though.

After reading this, the movie feels almost like it's rushing through the book. I appreciated the time we spent with the characters' backstories, and I wish we saw more of Cassian's life before he met Jyn. Otherwise, I just wish it leaned into their romance more.

me: hey maybe [REDACTED] doesn't happen in the Rogue One novelization
