Difficile de donner un avis... Si quelqu'un me racontait toutes les aventures vécues dans ce bouquin, je trouverai ça super passionnant mais bizarrement ce n'est dans cet état que j'ai fini ma lecture. J'me suis toujours senti tenu à distance. Plusieurs explications possibles. Le choix de calquer le caractère des persos sur des archétypes nationaux finit par rendre leurs réactions très prévisibles. On perd un peu du plaisir qu'on aurait à s'étonner de leur originalité. Le perso central n'échappe pas à la règle. Un anglais flegmatique à l'extrême qui ne laisse tellement rien transparaitre de ses émotions qu'on finit par se demander si on doit l'admirer pour savoir se tenir à distance de tout u le trouver vide et transparent. Et comme c'est lui qui donne la couleur dominante à toute l'action, on ressent une frustration. Ajouté à ça la narration à la troisième personne... Bref l'histoire est passionnante mais n'a pas réussi à me passionner. Comment je peux trouver autant de défauts à un bouquin que j'ai presque beaucoup aimé... faudra que je le relise un jour.

Nearly DNF’d then moved to audio and I’m so glad I did I enjoyed the film watched it a few years ago now so was very excited to read the book.
I struggled with the writing but as this is a classic I wanted to give it a try.

Very excited story and the audio I listened to was brilliantly done.

I’d say 3.5⭐️
