Somehow I realize I got my hands on a first edition of Queen Charlotte. Which as I’m reading it is amazing but sadly does not include the iconic line

“Sorrows…Sorrows Prayers.”

But it’s more focused on the story of Young: Lady Danbury, Queen Charlotte, King George, Brimsley and Reynolds.

The added bits with the flash forwards are not present but I think that aids in book format. It’s narrowed in, even though they were created at the same time I think they both have their strengths.

I find the extra peeks into the characters much more interesting. I highly recommend this book for fans of the show and romance readers.

So. Many. Emotions. This book took me through them all and I’m both happy and utterly heartbroken?! These books also have the ability to UTTERLY frustrate me whilst also loving every single second of it?! Gah. So much to process.

Queen Charlotte has always been a favourite in the Netflix Bridgerton series and a chance to delve deeper into her life and character was exactly what we all needed! Her story is a harrowing and sad, sorry tale yet full to brimming with such heartwarming and heartfelt love it was beautiful to read. And heartbreaking. The balance was so beautiful throughout the book.

I loved it from the very beginning, from the courtship, to the marriage and the descent. Reading her story was a kick in all the feels but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. As much as one can whilst trying not to sob and cry happy tears and then sob for sadness again. Be prepared to bring the tissues!

Also Agatha’s chapters were some that I so looked forward to. Her side of things was so enlightening and can only think a book with her as the main character would also be something I would snap up and read in a split second. She’s such a strong willed and influential character and her chapters were amongst some of my favourites. To be honest, there wasn’t a character perspective I didn’t like. And let’s just be honest and say how much we all love Brimsley and Reynolds who we’re just epic additions.

Loved this book in all ways possible.

So if you have seen the TV show this will be very close to that. I wish I had read this first. Having said that, I do love this story as it feels it has more depth than most of Julia Quinn's other novels. The battle with King George's madness by the Queen is heart wrenching.
