This is my second time reading a book from this author and I enjoyed it. The Characters were interesting and fun. I loved the forbidden aspect of the romance. What I didn't like was the last few chapters.

One thing I liked was that the main male mc did mention therapy and I loved that at least we as readers know that they will be okay because they will try to make it work and go to therapy.

I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The storyline felt disjointed, with too many jumps that left me feeling frustrated. Noah's nonchalant reaction to his sister dating his best friend was a missed opportunity for drama. Aria's jealousy over Gray's attention toward Nyx, even though she is Nyx herself, grated on my nerves due to her insecurity. The subplot involving Gray's parents was both dull and saddening, leaving me feeling disappointed and angry.

I was initially intrigued by the promise of a hacker romance and forbidden love, but I quickly found myself let down. The story lacked the drama I was hoping for, with the real conflict emerging when Gray discovers the traumatic truth about his parentage. While I empathize with Gray's mother's perspective, her rudeness was unnecessary and added to my frustration with the storyline.

Tropes/Themes:
-MF contemporary romance
-Brother’s best friend
-Software engineering MCs
-Hidden identities (the MCs have been unknowingly communicating with each other online)
-Forced proximity (h moves in with the H due to unforeseen circumstances)
-Office romance (boss x employee)
-Dual POV
-Book #1 in an interconnected standalone series

I’ve been wanting to pick this book up for a while after seeing it floating around Bookstagram, but this ended up being a huge letdown. This was just too instalovey for me and had no believable chemistry between the couple. One moment they felt like mere acquaintances (despite having been in each other’s lives for years), and then suddenly they were madly in love and obsessed with each other. Despite the tropes and initial set up, this had a shockingly low amount of angst. Like…he was able to openly flirt with her in the office and no one found it weird? And then there was all of the drama over them wanting to hide their relationship from Noah (Aria’s brother / Grayson’s best friend), and then literally nothing came from it.

I also found the heroine INFURIATING. I found myself unable to have any empathy for her because her inner dialogue was so annoying. The hero could literally say something like “I’m flirting with you right now” and she’d think something like “omg what is he doing, there’s no way he could be flirting with someone like me”. It was giving immature pick me girl energy and I couldn’t stand it. I liked the hero, but I honestly couldn’t tell if I only liked him because I listened to the audiobook and he was narrated by Teddy Hamilton.

Also, all of the subplots were either ridiculous or pointless.

Okay…I guess I didn’t realize how much I disliked this book until I actually started writing this review.

Love!

Love a good brother’s best friend trope! The whole idea behind nemesis was amazing as well and added a nice little bonus to the book! The characters and story line were very easy to follow and read along with. The ending was a little off to me which held me back from a 5 star rating BUT overall amazing book!
