Well, that certainly was an ending. I mean, I'm glad that no one died, and that all of the loose ends were tied up. But man, most of these characters were obnoxious and insufferable, it just made it hard to want to continue reading at times. Also, there were far too many plot twists, most of which just felt tacked on for "shock value", without much care for whether or not they made sense. Definitely not the best series, sadly.

Glad it ended on a decent conclusion to the king saga, but I do not like how the actual story ended here. The mom seems like a horrible person, I dont care how bad midori's past was, it's not enough to forgive him and still love him. He is a sadistic monster who tried to have multiple people killed. Overall I have a positive experience with the series but I do not like a lot of the things in this series too. I'd recommend if you can handle lots of suicidal thoughts and attempted suicide.

Ando is probably my favorite mangaka she’s good at handling her characters and arcs. However while the last 11 volumes were very strong this one has one big flaw that kinda lowers it not as a series but just as a volume. As the ending besides that is great.

The villain is set up well and has a good backstory yet they get away with everything and Arisas bond with them is very questionable. While Ando does try to give a good reason behind it it still makes it weaken a lot of the drama and conflict caused by the antagonist.

As for my praises I loved how Ando adds drama and character arcs they almost always work so well with the story. Also a shoujo manga that doesn’t have the MC in a romance by the end?

I took a very long break from this series, but I have finally finished it. I really, really enjoyed Ando’s Kitchen Princess series, and really wanted to like this one, but it was just… a bit overdone and dramatic.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t dislike this series. I enjoyed most of the characters, and the art is really pretty. I would have enjoyed a bit more romance for Tsubasa, but overall I really appreciated the sister aspect. That’s something that I think was really well done, and I liked that it was given the main focus. Overall, this story was about the two sisters, and how Tsubasa was there for her twin at all times, even when Arisa didn’t deserve it. The ending for them as sisters, too, worked, and made me happy for them.

The idea behind the King plot line I liked, and the reasons we were given for Arisa starting it, also worked. There was some depth given, or at least attempted. It was mostly the Midori part that didn’t work for me.

Midori went through some bad things, and that’s why he is the way he is—those things make sense to me. But how overdone his emotions for it all were, and then the way that it all turned around in the end to make him seem like a victim, just didn’t work for me. Having him be the victim in a moment of horror twisted around, just seemed like a cheap ploy to have people not hate him.

Arisa’s feelings for him didn’t work for me. The fact that no one actually ended up hurt in the end, didn’t work for me. In the end, the only parts I liked were the sisters relationship, and Tsubasa and her friends (from her original school). The rest of it was just cheesy and unrealistic.

Overall, I’m a little disappointed with this series. I wanted more from it. But, still, I look forward to reading her next series to be released.

i could not figure out what to rate this volume

because on the one hand, hell yeah sisters, redemption over revenge, the side story was way cute

on the other hand umm ando? ando you wrote midori as homicidal, i understand going for a redemptive ending but there's nothing written to earn it? like are we supposed to be happy arisa still loves midori? he literally tried to kill her sister!

what do you even do with that

...the side story was really cute tho

I started reading Arisa a few years ago while I was still in highschool, but unfortunately for me translated versions were scarce at that time. I suddenly remembered it a few days ago and I found that it had been completed and everything was translated so I went back and finished it.

It's an interesting story about a pair of twin sisters - one of whom is in a coma and the other is impersonating to find out why she's in a coma. It's a wonderful mystery manga and I loved it.

I do wish I had gotten better closure - like is Manabe X Tsubasa real? and EWWWW Arisa X Midori...STILL? EVEN AFTER ALL THAT?!?!?

How to put this... When I read the little blurb on the back of the book, I was fascinated by the concept. However, and as many others have pointed out, Arisa started out great, and then...just kind of got ridiculous.
I really don't like the ending. I don't like that Arisa still chooses Midori. I don't like that Tsubasa is okay with this. I don't like how all the consequences from King Time were undone (the criminal is in fact alive, Shizuka will walk again, the girl was only temporarily blinded, etc). And I just could not understand where the heck did that kid come from and dissapear off to after he stabbed Midori?? I didn't even recognize him at first!

All in all... The first half was great. The art really is beautiful and I enjoyed looking at all the images of Arisa's characters and world. However, the later half was just too cheesy/dramatic (as some others have said) and overdone. So, I look forward to reading Kitchen Princess, but I likely will not pick up Arisa for a second read.
