okay okay i have conflicting thoughts about this book.

first off, the sibling stuff is and was always strange and i wish jace and clary's love were forbidden in a different way but alas that would have made the whole plot tumble down. also why did miss clare make clary's actual brother incestuous anyway? i know clary wasn't into it and all and it may have been a reflection of his demonic blood, but didn't jace also not care in the 2nd book that they were brother and sister if it weren't for the opinion of others? so that would make jace just as bad in that regard?

regardless of all that, clary was annoying as always but luckily less annoying than in the previous books. simon was also a lot more likeable to me in this book. jace, however, steadily increased in cringiness. his dialogue and 2000's emo attitude was a bit much.

the pacing in this book was strange once again and i found i had to really try very hard to pick up the book around halfway through. the latter half is, of course, definitely the better half of this book. The big standout to me was jocelyn's monologue. i think cassandra clare writes emotions very well and this was a perfect example.

overall, this was an enjoyable experience. maybe not from start to finish, but change out the middle 100 pages and it would have been :)

They’re predictable at times, which I don’t mind. Clary is still a little annoying but I like all the other characters so it doesn’t bother me. I thought the Angel concept was really cool in this. Already kinda knew that Jace and Clary weren’t related so that wasn’t a shock. I do agree with others that her using her wish from the Angel in jus bringing back Jace was selfish. She could have at least brought back all the Shadow Hunters who died in the battle or something.

I thought this book was good. It was as good as if not slightly better than the previous 2 books (definately book 2 at any rate), simply because i think it was more eventful and exciting. I felt more gripped and interested in what was going on, and it was a nice change of pace for this book to be set in Idris rather than New York. There were some more surprise twists, including one or two I'd hoped for since book 1 because I thought it was a silly plot device. Overall though, a good and entertaining book.

i am so lazy ahhh writing reviews for such nostalgic books is hard!! i promise i will eventually go back and write my opinions down but for now just note that city of glass is like the ultimate conclusion to such an epic trilogy (well like it's not a trilogy anymore but you get what i mean). may the record show that i like the rest of the universe am incredibly in love with jace. ok goodbye.
