I quite liked the plot. There are plenty of interesting characters to follow and we can spend time with our friends from previous books. however, I think that the there where a few history name-drops that weren't really necessary. I am excited to read the next part!
I am officially on an Outlander sprint. So much for putting time between books! I'm giving in and finishing up the last couple books so I can finally get on with my life. Anyway...
This book was so good! As I suspected, The Fiery Cross was the calm before the storm. At least Jamie and Claire got a *bit* of peace. ;) The last third of this book had my heart in knots the entire time. Get ready for an emotional roller coaster!!

I think this series may have "jumped the shark" for me in this book with the storyline about Lizzie. It seemed completely out of character for her. While I enjoyed much of the book, I think the author is grasping for ways to enliven her lengthy books and provide stories for her many, many characters. And I really dislike the use of rape (and by rape I mean sex without real consent) as a plot driver. It reminds me of Disney, where almost every story involves the death of a main character's mother to create heightened drama. In the Outlander series, Diana Gabaldon seems to rely on rape as a way to do the same. It's a shame, because the books are entertaining enough, and for the most part very well written. I'm invested enough after reading thousands of pages about Claire, Jamie, and their family, to want to know how their story ends. So on to Echo in the Bone and Written in My Own Heart's Blood, but I hope for better than I got in A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
Loved everything about this book. From the Claire and Jamie love story to the historical setting. Gutted that Brianna and Roger have gone back to their own time and will no longer be with their family but something tells me that that won't be for long.
My favorite so far!
I don’t know how she does it! I can’t wait to start the next book! This might be my favorite series, ever!

Why does it always feel like a magical feat when I've finished one of these books?? I don't care what people say about slow pacing or too much medical/herb/historical discussion. I love the Outlander series. It brings history to life. Yes, the romance is fabulous, but it wouldn't be the same without all the details. So much happens in the sixth installment; I never grew bored. But I do grow more and more anxious with each book. It can't last forever, right?? Or can it...

Better by far than Fiery Cross. It renewed my faith in the series.
Whew, thank goodness, this book is more like the others than Drums of Autumn, which I found a bit of a struggle to get through. What's more to say? The story continues, you're hooked or you're not. Actually, come to think of it, I was starting to get a little bored, caring less, but this book throws a few changes that make me want to read the next.
