Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny is my first non-friction since high school. I’m not sure how to review of biography so I’m just going to wing it.
Holly Madison gives a detailed yet starting account of her time at the playboy mansion shedding the illusion of that everyone has about the mansion. She shares her personal experiences revealing that life at the mansion was anything but glamour’s she was but one of seven blondes in Hef’s collection of girlfriends. Slowly outlasting till it was just down to three of them but even than things didn’t get better to the point where she had enough and ended it. She shares her life experiences that changed her life molding her into the woman she is today.
I watched every season of the Girls Next Door but Holly was always my favorite she was just so interesting to watch. So when I saw she wrote a biography of her time in the mansion I had to give it a shot. Wow I figured it wasn’t all rainbows but never expected Hef to be so controlling, from keeping them on a short leash to even controlling their money, and when they can leave the mansion. It’s honestly disturbing what she went through just to survive but she did and came out a better person.
I liked Holly before the book and after I just adore her even more. She’s one of those people who’s had the tragic past and reinvented herself into who she wanted to be. It was interesting seeing the other characters that I was familiar with as well as many I wasn’t. I liked seeing a little bit of Bridgett and Kendra but clearly her time in the mansion didn’t help her either.
I’m honestly shocked at how well written Down the Rabbit Hole is. She did a beautiful job creating a captivating detailed recount of her experiences inside and outside the mansion. I honestly enjoyed reading the book way more than I expected this part of her life was very shocking because I always assumed everything was so fantasy land but it clearly wasn’t. I can’t imagine spending all that time in the mansion feeling like she did it’s heartbreaking. However she did realize that she deserves better and worked hard to reinvent herself which I think is awesome. Down the Rabbit Hole is a fast paced novel that I had a hard time putting down it’s just WOW! I can’t emphasis this enough it’s just so beautifully written that it flows from start to finish. High recommend checking out it’s a very interesting read. My only regret was getting the ebook should have gotten the Hardcover and I may still have too.

I chose to listen to this on Audible and I’m so glad I did. Holly does the narrating herself and does a beautiful job telling her story. I’ve been enjoying her podcast with Bridgette Marquardt lately and have been exploring more of the things she has out there. I’m so glad I gave this a shot. I really enjoyed it.
This is a very well written and detailed memoir of her time with Playboy. I’ve already started her next book via Audible.

I’m not going to lie... the minute I found out about this book, I was excited as HELL to read it.
I’ve been a huge fan of Holly ever since her days on The Girls Next Door, which was a huge guilty pleasure of mine when I was in high school. I often wondered just how much was fabricated and this was finally my answer. Holly cuts through ALL of the bullshit that happened at the Playboy Mansion, stuff you would have NEVER seen on the show and perhaps may never have been revealed otherwise. I remember the tagline for GND was “We call it fantasy, they call it home.” According to Holly, it was a damn prison and I felt for her as she began explaining her side of the story.
Not everyone will believe this. You may be more inclined to believe other stories told by other people involved (though I’m not going to name names; if you’ve been keeping up with the news on this book you’ll know what I’m talking about). But from where I stand, I choose to believe it. I believe every word Holly says because of the intimate details she shares and the admission that she contemplated suicide once.
The thing about fantasy and dreams is that once someone achieves it, they sometimes find out it’s not all it’s tracked up to be. Playboy is perhaps one of the biggest fantasies for many out there, and to have someone cut right through the shit and tell us about all of the dirty laundry is ballsy. And to come from Holly Madison? I don’t believe there’s any reason she would make it up.
Will I read it again? Definitely in the future. Do I recommend it? Yes I do. If you’re interested in Holly’s side of the story, grab your own copy and read it all for yourself.

Really interesting. Seems legit and now I can understand the expressions on her face and the fake laugh she used on the show. She seems honest and I feel bad for her for putting up with that mess for so long. The things women do! Hef is really a piece of work! Good for her, getting her story out there.
Very similar to "Bunny Tales" by Izabella St James which I read a long time ago. Basically these "naivee" girls realize the playboy mansion is a prison and not what they signed up for even though they were showered with gifts and money. An interesting memoir to say the least.
I am always privy when reading biographies that not everything is 100% honest. But whilst reading this I felt it was a genuine recount by her.
As a fan of the TV show (having watched countless repeats) life at the Playboy Mansion seemed fun and I somewhat envied these girls that had this seemingly joyous life.
But boy, was this an eye opener to what life was really like when the cameras stopped rolling.
