If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late March.
Chapters taken from the perspective of four different people - two women who work at a salon, and are extremely, enviously focused on the appearances of celebrities and frequenting clients; one who works at a hostess bar and is upfront about the topics that they’re not allowed to speak of, such as the pressure to be married into a wealthy family; and a Korean woman with several relatives in the U.S., who undergo similar pressures to keep up on celebrity gossip, to be beautiful, and marry up. Together, they make outwardly advantageous choices, while downplaying and claiming annoyance at the antics of other women.
