The Light Over London is a beautiful mix of Historical Fiction and Romance. It's an easy read, so I recommend it to those who are trying to get their selves out of a reading slump. There's also some crazy plot twists, so buckle your seatbelt!

This would have got a 4.5 but for the breathing line. I loved this, I loved the different time lines and characters. I lived learning about bits of British war time history I didn’t know about. A great read

Two stories of mystery and romance are woven together in this charming novel.

Cara - 2017 - reinventing her life as an antiques dealer while learning to live on her own

Louise - 1941 - reinventing her life as a gunner girl while learning to become her own person.

the problem that I had with this book is that on page 11 you find out that things are not going to end well for the WW2 character and reading her part of the book, it is easy to guess what happens.
I found myself enjoying reading the book and then get fed up.
Also, I take exception to the first paragraph of the Author's Note re "to live in London is to always have the memory of World War II with you" is so not true, unless you are deliberately looking for it.

This book is an exquisite work of historical fiction. I won a Kindle copy in a Goodreads giveaway, and I am so thankful that I did. I have a soft spot for novels featuring the discovery of long-lost diaries (thank you, Dear America series), and Julia Kelly seamlessly rotates between a young World War II “gunner girl” journaling about her experiences and a curious divorcee in the present day. Though the Second World War is an immensely popular era for historical novels right now, Kelly tackles a unique topic: wartime romance for women in the service. I think she does so beautifully, and I can’t wait to read more of her work.

This was much better than I had originally thought.

I added and deleted this book from my “to buy” list so many time because I wasn’t sure. There are so many WWII books out and the pool has been so diluted.

While this has both a romance element and a historical element, they are interweaved in a way that creates an interesting and fast-paced story. I really liked the characters of Louise, Kate, and the gunner girls. I could have done without the “modern” story (too much romance) but the characters weren’t vacuous and insipid so that made it all the more tolerable.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book!
