This was an interesting YA read. I don’t know whether to call it sci-fi or dystopian, but it was engrossing. I normally hate first-person present tense novels, but I read this in one sitting.

Malice by Pintip Dunn tells the story of a girl who is visited in her mind by her future self. She is told it is up to her save the worlds' population from a future deadly virus. The problem is that she can't be given details and has to figure out whom she has to kill in order to save lives.

Once I started I couldn't put the book down. Time travel isn't the easiest for me to wrap my head around but Pintip does a good job explain the books time travel abilities without confusing the heck out of me. Alice hooked me from the beginning, I cared about her because she was real and kind and was trying her best to keep her family together. I felt like I went through all the motions with Alice, confusion, anger and sadness, as she figures out who to trust and what her future self is keeping from her. This story also contains the wonderfully amazing character named Bandit {{sigh}} just thinking about him makes me happy. I don't want to say much about him though because Spoliers but trust me he's book boyfriend material at its best.

Malice is a time travel story that focus' on love and how different but no less important it is no matter who it is inference to, whether that be love between siblings, friends , parent and child, or the love with a significant other. This book shows how love can be such a powerful motivator that can cause both positive and negative outcomes. Malice is perfect for fans of YA with a time travel and diverse characters.

Wow wow wow. This book was amazing! The concept of the novel felt so fresh and new. I loved the interweaving of time travel all throughout the book. The MC, Alice, has this task thrust upon her so suddenly. It is so fascinating to see the why behind he choices she makes. I will say that I figured out the maker pretty early on but that made it so much more interesting to read and see how things played out. The characters and relationships were great and they made sense. The one thing I didn’t understand was some of the logistics about time travel. I got sort of confused reading those parts but overall an extremely entertaining story.

Highly highly recommend this book.

⭐️ BOOK REVIEW ⭐️
Thanks to @this_is_edelweiss @entangledteen and @pintip_dunn for my eARC of Malice. This book is due for release on 4 Feb 2020.
This is a YA sci-fi thriller and really does fill those mighty boots. It’s pacy, exciting and full of teenage angst. I was a little nervous when I discovered the ages of the characters but there really was no need. It’s mature without being too advanced for their years.
The sci-fi concept blended with the who done it element worked really well. The friendships were true and solid and you really feel for Alice (MC) along the way with the choices she has to make. Sometimes it was a little giddy and unrealistic, but it’s a sci-fi novel, if that genre can’t be a little out there then what can?!
Great fun, easy reading and good engaging writing.

The concept of this story intrigued me so much (your older self telling you someone in your school is gonna create a virus that'll kill two thirds of the population? you have to kill them before that? but you don't know WHO it is and also if you can completely trust your older self? how intriguing) and while I enjoyed reading it, I didn't think anything special about it. I liked the time travel et the mystery parts but others, not so much. The romance was a big focus and I understand it was important for the story, it felt too much for me. It was also not that hard to figure out who the mystery person was. I would have like more sci-fi and time travely stuff. It was still an interesting read.

an odd book about a girl who’s future self visits her in order to save the world from a virus which destroys two thirds of the world’s population. It’s not well written, but not extremely unbearable.

A good thriller with sci-fi aspects that keep you guessing till the last page.
It's gripping and entertaining, with a cast of interesting characters and a well crafted plot that kept me hooked.
Even if I'm not a YA read I appreciated the storytelling and the story.
A good read, recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
