Meh, there's a lot of crying and not very good smut.

I gave the series a second shot, because I though it might get better on the second one. But unless the FMC grows a spine in the next books, I can't really see how it can even be tolerable. I was annoyed most of the time.

Plus, a plot would be nice. All that happens is that she's held captive and they have s*x as if it's the most romantic thing ever..... hm, no.

Ekkk!! Heartless was So Damn Good! It picks up right where Merciless left off and I have got to say WOW!! I am so completely invested in these characters! I love them, Especially Carter! He is so deliciously consumed body, mind and soul with Aria. I wanted to slap them both a few times for them to open their eyes, see what is right in front of them. Aria is strong willed and a unique combination of disobedient and submissive to Carter. I feel like they have both changed each other for the better. There are still so many secrets in this thrilling sequel, a new challenge at every turn. Carter and Aria still have such a intense relationship, the fire between them only burns hotter! The Cross brothers are in here a bit more, I hope a certain brother gets his own story in the future. Once again I am left shell shocked by the ending of this story, left with so many questions. I can't wait to see what happens next!!!

Ommmggggg I have so many feelings!!

Once again Carter is an asshole but you actually see him start to care for Aria and there are some moments where I actually liked him but then he'll go do some fucked up shit to Aria and I hate him again!! We see more of his trauma which I already knew about from the novella books but it does help me to feel bad a teeny tiny bit.

Aria literally can't catch a break and I feel truly horrible for her. We see more of her trauma and how messed up she is from being isolated and fucked with mentally and emotionally by Carter. This whole book she is balling her eyes out or trying to get drunk. She also has feelings for Carter as well and she cares for him and wants to be able to show him affection but she also hates him for how he treats her and loathes herself for loving him and becoming complicit. Poor girl is just a mess.

I literally feel like I'm Aria because when I start to like Carter for a second I'm like wtf is wrong with you!?!?

I truly still can't tell if Carter actually loves her or if he still just wants to possess her. Yes, he cared more for her and her wishes and gave her more privileges and even admitted his feelings for her were infringing on his decision making but he still suuucks.

And that ending made me want to die.

I’m one of those people who has to finish what they started. If it wasn’t for that little trait, I definitely would’ve DNFed this book. Each chapter is copy of the first one with just a few details changed or a new nugget of information revealed. The whole I hate him, but I love him. He’s a monster, but he’s sweet. I’m gonna cry for 2 chapters & now I’m going to be strong & fight him. It’s repetitive & nauseating.
