After a traumatic relationship in high school, Andi channels her anxiety into a successful career as a thriller novelist and true crime podcaster. One night when someone breaks into her place, her grumpy neighbor Hill comes to the rescue. There is an immediate attraction between the two but neither is in a place to start a relationship. Andi is dealing with her anxiety, and an accident that caused Hill to lose his leg and a broken engagement have him dealing with his own trauma. Can they learn to trust each other enough to allow something to happen?

I adored Yes & I Love You, so I cousin’t wait to read Andi’s story, and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint at all. I adore the characters Roni Loren creates and how they are so real and handle their relationships so well. The portrayal of trauma, anxiety, physical disability and PTSD in this story was incredible, and I adored how respectful how the characters were respectful of each other’s trauma and thier boundaries. These characters also had everything you could want in a romance: great chemistry and banter, some steamy scenes, and consent. Truly, I could rave about this book all day, it was amazing, so go read it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've discovered quite a few new authors this year but I've got to say that Roni Loren is one of my favorites! I'm actually reading The Ones Who Got Away series now(planning on reading all of her books actually), but I wanted to talk about one of my favorite books in 2021 - What If You & Me, because I just remembered that I didn't make a separate post to gush about this.❣️

This one didn't grab me in quite the same way that Yes And I Love You but I did enjoy it. There were a few moments were Hill got on my nerves (SIR STOP BLOCKING YOUR BLESSINGS) but he got it together pretty quickly. Andi's trauma is uh...real fucking dark...but I like that the end has them both working on themselves together.

This is my third book I've read from Roni Loren, and I'm finding that I'm not going to be disappointed when I read one of her books.

Out of the two books in the Say Everything series, I think this one is my favorite so far. You've got grumpy/sunshine, friends to lovers, neighbors, and a lot of spice in the kitchen and out ;)

This story focuses on Andi Lockley who we meet in the first book as horror writer and true crime podcaster. Andi's profession and obsession over true crime and safety comes from a dark past that is known to very few people in her inner circle.

When Andi moves, she becomes neighbors with the former firefighter Hill Dawson. Hill suffered a serious injury during a fire rescue, and as a result lost part of his leg while becoming a hero. He's in a dark place trying to manage his depression and figure out what value he has in life.

These two form a fast friendship but you can't deny the intense chemistry they have between them. Neither one wants a relationship. They both think they are not in the right place to have one because of their past traumas. Through their connection, Hill starts to see his value even with a disability. Andi starts to trust again and realize she might be able to have a real romance.

I loved how vulnerable this story was and how much honesty each character had when talking to one another. Roni really did a great job to show their challenges and the softness of opening up to someone, and the power it can have once you do.

Also who doesn't love a grump like Hill who is really just a full on cinnamon roll for the woman he loves?!?

This was a great read, and I loved how the disability in the book was written and dealt with along with the PTSD for both characters.

CW: PTSD, anxiety, depression, assault, internet trolls, stalking, physical disability

What If You and Me is the sequel to Yes and I Love You, which I read earlier this month. It can be read separately as well. Andi is a horror writer after facing her own real life horror and Hill is her neighbor, a former firefighter who has been through a trauma of his own. I’m not sure I love the idea that falling in love can solve your mental health issues, but I did like that the couple both had separate issues that they were able to help each other with, rather than the man “saving” the woman. Still, this is a great rom com and love story, which does include sexy scenes.

Audiobook:
I didn't think I could enjoy as much as I did Yes & I Love You, but I was wrong and I think I like it more, in a different way. I love all the growth the characters all have in this series, I absolutely loved the spin on Andi's take on the horror genre and how her story made book have a dark RomCom vibe.

I felt ick when Hill first described her physically as a boyish if not for chest. Also the werewolf joke was overdone and weird... The chemistry between the two was lacking

This book follows Andi who made an appearance in book 1 and former firefighter Hill who lost part of his leg. Both are fighting their own demons. While Andi appears strong she has a vulnerable side and Hill while fighting his own demons shows he is a sweet, caring person. You couldn't help but root for the 2 of them!!
