So this is a fairly novel experience. I started reading physically due to a student's recommendation. I finished the series and thought I was done with it. Then I read the very inferior Alex Cross series by James Patterson for my reading challenge and found myself waxing nostalgically for this series. So I transitioned into the Audiobook version and here we are.

I have to say, due to my head canon, I prefer the physical copies to the audiobook. There was just something about the plot and the narrator that made it harder to follow in audio format vs. physical text. I wish I had the time and resources to read this book in person, but that wasn't possible.

The story itself was interesting, it seems like as Amos Decker settles down and becomes more "normal" that my interest in the series wains. I felt like he has been to one too many rustic "Podunk" towns in the midwest and that this felt very similar to the previous entry in the series because of it.

That said I did find the book somewhat engaging and I don't know if I will jump off the train just yet. I definitely prefer this series to competition by other authors like Patterson. So I will wait and see when #7 comes out if I will feel the same way a few years from now.

Too long too convoluted too implausible. Sorry.

This was NOT an Amos Decker book.

I love the Amos Decker series. Always look forward to these books. However, I almost stopped reading this book several times. It really didn’t pick up until page 200 (kindle at 48%). These books always grab my attention and I can’t put them down. I’ve taken the last two with me each time I’ve went on vacation because I knew they would be perfect beach reads and I just flew through them. This one just didn’t have the “wow” factor that the other books have had. I felt like there were two separate stories being told simultaneously. A lot of back and forth. I found myself re-reading paragraphs because I couldn’t focus on the story. Also, if you like all of the characters in the other books, you will be disappointed because there’s a couple new characters that have a large role in this book and none of the series favorites are in this book (they have very small, insignificant mentions). Overall my least favorite in this series. And that is saying a lot because I recommend this series to everyone. Took me two weeks to finish this book. Such an incredible disappointment.

*Where is Decker? He was totally off his game. And where were his trademark quirks?

*What happened to Jamison? She can’t seem to figure anything out on her own.

*This is basically a Will Robie book with a smidgen of Amos Decker.

listen i love a good cheesy save the world baldacci book, but this wasn't it, man. maybe i just haven't read something of his in a hot minute, but like...........it was not good. like we straight up had a deus ex machina in the form of an old baldacci character who just happened to show up at the exact moment decker & jamison were in trouble?

I love the Memory Man books. They are hard to put down, I just want to keep reading to see how Amos figures it all out.

Pretty torn on this one. I enjoy reading Baldacci and I generally like cross overs but this one didn't hold true to the characters.

Fun, fast-paced book to read, but the plot was messy and at times improbable. Reading it did feel like an action movie with no actual plot or character development.

I am having a crisis about this series. It seems like I enjoy it because I finished it in like 2 days and I can read it really easily. But then I just feel 'meh' about it. It lacks the shock factors and eventhough I never guess what the plot is I'm never really surprised. I need to find a five star read soon or I'm just going to have a reading slump soon :(
