⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5: family drama set in Chicago, mostly character driven and filled with concerns related to mental health, neglect, abandonment, illness, death, intergenerational conflict, etc. this was fine…not typically my cup of tea but I did enjoy parts of it where the story enveloped me with the conflicts of the family. The pacing for me was sporadic and did affect my ability to get immersed in the story. Overall, if you enjoy family drama and character driven stuff go for it, but if you need something more than skip it.

The author of this book has never been to Chicago and it shows.

Happy, sad, hopeful, sad again. I loved this book. It is emotional just as life is. It wasn’t too much. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a book where family love was so clear.
