This was a tough one for me to get into because of the snobby main character at first. But the magic, the French, and the mystery kept me going. Didn't realize it would leave me like it did, frustrating!!!
A really interesting concept. Young Adults (Late teens, early 20s) who each represent a card from the Tarot deck. I can't wait to learn more about them. Looking forward to the next novel.

3.5 Stars. I'd give it 4 but she gets a deduction for having such a whiny, bitch of a heroine. I resent that I had to wait 360 pages for this chick to grow a pair. And Jackson, how annoying were the two them together. But still, the story has potential and I'm hoping now that she's solved the mystery of herself that we can get on with the good stuff. #wewillsee
What a unique premise!!!
There were definitely a few moments where I was like "ugh. teenagers" and then I have to remind myself that this book IS about teenagers. Its not the standard dystopian I usually grab, and for that I am thankful. Looking forward to the next one!

I'm totally re-reading this series before FINALLY reading Arcana Rising. I feel like this will give me enough of a fix to wait for Dark Calling this spring....EEEEEEEKK!
I usually don’t read YA novels but there were SO MANY recommendations that I couldn’t avoid reading this series any longer. That being said…. HOW DARE I?!? How dare I doubt Kresley’s storytelling skills?!? This book ensnared me within a few pages. I.could.not.stop.reading!!! I devoured this first book in a matter of hours!! I usually use the Libby app to read new series— to see if I like them before I purchase them— and immediately after I finished Poison Princess I bought the remaining series! I didn’t want to wait my turn with a book hold lol. But that’s not it!! I felt a need to tell all my book worm friends/family that they were missing out. I got familiar excuses, “ oh I’ll put it in my TBR pile,” “ I’ll put it on hold at the library.” Yada yada yada. Heck no! Read it now!! I channeled my inner Oprah and started gifting the book in this series to my close friends and family. My brother finished it within days, and like me bought the rest of the series. I have converted a total of 6 friends /family to the Darkside. If you are reading this review I beg you to put this series on the top of your TBR pile!!!!
