I honestly cannot even begin to put into words how much I freaking enjoyed this book!!!!

As a massive fan of Kresley Coles Immortals after dark series I have always been very apprehensive of starting any of her other works just in case they didn't up to my love for that series, however I'm now beating myself up for not starting it sooner!

Usually with series like this one (ya) I always find myself hating at least one of the characters if not more but that just wasn't the case here. Every character I feel was incredibly well thought out and developed, and the ways that they interacted with each other all seemed very genuine. in all honesty it doesn't read like a typical ya fantasy book, I found myself on more than one occasion thinking that I was reading her adult series, just without all of the smutty sex scenes that are usually present - and actually found it to be just as enjoyable!

Along a similar vein I normally never read books that are set in the apocalypse or about zombies etc because I just don’t get on with them, they always bore me near to tears and I find them to all be so similar it’s infuriating, but I think that this series has just enough different elements to it to make it stand out from all of the others!

I’ve already went ahead and ordered the rest of the books in the series because I know I’m going to read them within a week

I'm feeling really meh about this book

It took a long time for anything to really happen in this book, and once it finally got going it was over. I will keep reading the series, though.

Honestly, pretty disappointing. Author glazes over whole explanations of the reason for the apocalypses. Main guy is super creepy and really pushes boundaries in a non-consensual way. Their dynamic is SUPER toxic. Further imposes the societal theme of women's role in society, especially in regards to their relationship with men. Great premise, but not great execution IMO.

Previous 4 star now 2 star after reading 5th book. I hate love triangles but I can deal with them (and even find them interesting) if they are resolved in the first 2 or 3 books (preferably book 2).

Spoiler... Not sure if this is considered a spoiler or not but this series is a never-freaking-ending love triangle. The constant back and forth is just beyond ridiculous. I'm done with this series. The male leads don't deserve to be treated like this. I honestly can't see an ending for this series that I would like regardless of who she chooses (or whoever gets killed off) (or maybe they will end up in a menage) but regardless, this indecision is just cruel. I can't watch the train wreck anymore. I'm done.

Amazing book to read. It has a mixture of everything from Romance, to Sci-fi, To Fantasy, and a bit of mystery I would say. If you have not read this book yet, you definitely should. It will keep you entertained and wondering what will come next the whole way through.

This book took me by surprise! The prologue drew me in immediately. Keep in mind, I don't typically love doomsday stories. I felt like they were a bit overused back in the day, but I just didn't care with this book. I loved the characters, the mystery of where Evie's visions were coming from and the emerging of her new strange powers. It's a supernatural battle on a doomsday themed battleground and that is what made this one so interesting. Throw in the complication of Zombies and Cannibals and you have a lot of obstacles trying to stay alive even with powers!

Don't get me wrong, Jackson has some red flags as a love interest, but you can't really help but fall in love with him. He flirty, protective and speaks some delectable French! Evie is the main character and she's endearing and relatable and you can't wait for her to hone in her power so she no longer appears like a weak link.

I recommend giving this series a shot!

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Kresley Cole has done it again!!

1,5 stars

I really thought that I would like this book a bit more, because the premise sounded so interesting. There is mainly one reason for the low rating: Jackson, the love interest of the story. He was so rude and irritating, I could not stand him. He acted as if Evie was his girl for almost the entire story, even when she didn't have an interest in him and was dating another guy. I felt like he was way too possessive of her, which I did not like. The whole stealing journal thing was also not okay, in my opinion, and 90% of what he said was either cheesy or rude, barely anything else.

I liked Evie a little bit more, but as the story progressed, she became as annoying as Jackson, especially when one praticular character is introduced. I know that people may act like her if they are in a similar situation, but I still don't like it. I pretty much hated both Jackson and Evie by the end of the story.

It's a shame that Evie changed towards the end, because I enjoyed learning more about her at the start of the novel. That is probably the least liked part of the book, but I actually did fairly enjoy it, even though it was a bit too long. I agree that it was a tad bit unnecessary, though it did tell a good amount about Evie and her family in between the weird parts with Jackson. I felt like we did get some back story then, compared to the After the Flash chapters. It could be my fault for not reading too closely, but I did feel like much of the world building went away as the story progressed, which I did not understand. We didn't get an explanation about how the Flash even happened, and loads of the stuff that happened after the Flash made little to no sense at all. Why would every single plant around them die out and why did the oceans started to dry out and everything? There was no proper explanation about how this had happened, and it annoyed me quite a lot.

I probably would have liked this more if I had read this a couple of years ago. The plot is not the worst, and the writing is not too bad, it is just that the characters ruined a lot of it for me. The ending was okay, so I do believe this story might be a tiny bit better in the next books, as the plot becomes more intriguing and suspenseful.

Can't believe I liked a post-apocalyptic book. The characters are really great, keep things moving really quickly, I think I read this one in 28 hours. While working two days in that 28 hours.
